Hi...So I've looked at the MMF web site and the Jamagic web site. How do I determine which one is most appropriate for me? I'm not sure that I can tell the difference. The page with sample games does not indicate which program was used to create each game.

I'm wondering what kind of import abilities each has. For instance, I'd probably want to include my own objects in some sort of bitmap form, plus some 3D objects (.3ds files, for example). Can movie files be included in games? (e.g. .avi, .mov)

I would appreciate input from anyone who has some knowledge of these programs! Thank you in advance.

MMF is easier to use but not as powerful. Jamagic requires scripting, while MMF does not. You can import 3D objects into MMF but not very complex ones, as MMF does not use 3D acceleration. Both programs can support .avi's. Keep in mind that you can still do plenty with MMF in terms of 2D but in terms of 3D, it is limited.

Mr. Coffee, that helps, thank you. If anyone else would be willing to chime in with additional comments, I'd appreciate it. Is anyone able to identify a game or two created with each of the programs from the list of games on the Creation Gallery at:

http://www.clickteam.com/English/select_gallery_display_D.php

I suspect that many of the more recent entries were done with MMF, but I'm really not sure.

Thanks!

MMF is also very easy to learn...that's the point of click products, they're uber-easy to learn(but still hard to master).

Check out a few 3D games made by jamagic, and then download a game like ED(Eternal Daughter, in the Creation Gallery)

They show the possibilities of click-products.

Okay, so Micheal Blade was made in Jamagic. Is GK saying that Eternal Daughter was also? So what's a good example of an MMF game?

Thank you again, everyone.

MMF also has really bad 3D animation too, I just stick with importing frames or if I really need 3D I goto a non Clickteam system like conitec, but they cost a little over a thousand dollars for an enterprise license

Eternal Daughter = MMF
Terminal Orbit, an RTS, was made in MMF also.

MMF = good for 2D, and projects that you'll be working on in limited groups
Jamagic = lets you make 3D, programming language, more powerful & flexible and you can reuse code

Eternal Daughter is good. Also, Triumph War 2099, Entrance Gate, and PacManWorlds are also good MMF games.

Which tool you choose depends on what you want to do.
A gardener wouldn't use a pneumatic drill anymore than a roadworker would use a pitchfork.

I, for instance, prefer MMF's visual system to Jamagic any day, but would prefer the ability to define functions as in Jamagic. I wouldn't even mind if the event editor was replaced with a script system.

MMF is incredibly powerful, but Jamagic more so. However, what Jamagic gains in power, it looses in simplicity. If you have programmed before, or would like to get into the world of actual coding, Jamagic is a good place to start. If you want to make games/apps which are easier to build but still good enough to compete in a professional market, then MMF is what you want.

There isn't much point of making 2D games with jamagic, when it's easier to use MMF....unless you need a really high amount of objects.

"You can choose another color for your convenience, by pressing Shift while you click in a color in the palette bar."

Classic.
