I haven't seen many Klik RPGs.

Is anyone working on one?

I'm working on an RPG called Tales of Faerun

The plot: In the world of Faerun, the was a war between the world and evil. After much fighting, the dark well that contains all the evil magic was destroyed and the war ended. Now the evil magic is lifeless in form of a vast fog covering the world of Faerun. In the present using the Timestream, 2 mages from the Dark Magic Wars came to the present and began to revive the evil by collecting it into one mountain: Mt. Randrake. The apprentice of a teacher at a small magic school in Mistrock begins his journey to stop the 2 mages when his sword mysteriously begins to glow. This boy,Kyrit, and his master, Wint, set out to find the mystery of the sword.

Uhm. You may need to change the name slightly, since Faerun is (I think) the name of the world in Baldur's Gate.

Yeah, I'm kicking ideas around loosly as far as an RPG engine is concerned, although an actual RPG idea isn't even being considered yet, heh.

I'm currently playing with visual effects and ideas for trying to make overlays. Basically, having the visual aspect of the player running as an APO rather than an active. The APO is then moved to the position of the player's invisible collision object (used for the custom movement). The background tiles in a 3*3 radius of the player are re-pasted. The player's image is then pasted as well. The player is hidden offscreen. The next layer of tiles are then re-pasted too, over the top of the player.

This gives the effect of the player walking behind some tiles, but how fast it would run is uncertain; it's still in the test phase. It should save on actives anyway.

Basically, it's very tentative right now.

I suggest changing the name, unless it's a parody of some sort. Maybe I'll write an article some day on choosing a name for your game. Crystal Sword... sounds like a something from a Random RPG Name Generator.

I'm working on a little RPG of my own. It's more of a hack-and-slash combat engine with a storyline and no graphics, but it's been fun to work on so far. It's based on a whole month of research and brainstorming (yes, one full month with 4 hours of work a day) I put into thinking up a really good combat engine. Now, I've got a fine duelling combat system, which is a hell of an effort to put into code (especially with data storing). The whole hit-dodge-block system is enough to make a game of it's own .

Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.

Actually, Crystal Sword was the name of some NES game....

How do people get around making engines ? my biggest problem dealing with engines is making FF like battle engines... I've been thinking about doing something with global counters..you know, walk around somewhere. You get into a fight, the counter is set to the monster's number, and you go to the battle frame and the appropriate monster is showed etc.

"hack-and-slash combat engine"

Thank goodness for that. I hate turnbased RPGs with a vengeance; my engine will be more zelda-like too... if it ever gets made.

I'm currently making a second version of Chaos Keins receinctyly added to DC after being out for a while. Chaos Keins 2: The Revenge of Chaos. Its basicly being made off of the comments I get from Chaos Keins 1, so Chaos Keins 2 will basicly be everything Chaos Keins 1 should have been.
But yeah, I'm working on an RPG, this time it WILL be pure online though, because not only do you battle, but you see other players in the game walking around in the walkabout with you. This will help make your adventure less lonly & more exciting.
