Eternal Daughter's story is great...but i thought that the storyline for the line (though it's really short) is really unique, special and interesting.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
I dont useally care about storyy lines but Vice Citys story line was the coolest .I know its not a click game but I had to mention it, Because it was I was like OMFG!!1 I CAN NOT BELEVE LANCE DID THAT! I THOUGHT WE WHERE FUCKING FRIENDS. He was all 'tommy, I'm hear to help you out' and I'm like 'oh man this guy is awesome' then he stabs me in back. I couldn't beleve it. I was devestated. It changed my life, I'll never trust anyone named lance vance again.

vice city's story was sadly predictable. i never really trusted lance anyway and i took great satisfaction pumping him full of revolver rounds!
anyway, click game wise, you must play Butterfly 660 for a good story. the game itself may be all mouth and no balls, but the story is pretty damn impressive.
Actually Pete Vice citys stryline wasn't predictable i knew nothing about lance betraying you until my friend blurted it out (not you buster another friend)
I couldn't really be sure which Klik game has the best story line. Not many of them have stood out that much. Besides your RPG style games like Spirit Engine and ED, you don't really tend to get all too many in-depth storylines on games here, and I think that might just be something people should consider, because I know it's really easy to overlook the storyline as an actual important part of your game.
Then again, it goes without saying, that many games don't really require storylines, ie arcade/puzzle types. But I think if you want a bit of extra depth and interest in a game a storyline is the way to go, and just any storyline either.
A good storyline to me would be like the one out of Deus Ex. You have a situation that you have to resolve somehow, but as the game progresses there are many twists and turns that are basically effected by how you play the game. I'd rather not site specific examples in the game to spoil it, but the point of the game can change almost completely by doing things earlier on...and I really find that something appealing.
Anyway, summing up...man i'm writing long posts these days ...a storyline should be just that, a story. As many of you probably know, a story should contain a purpose, conflicts and resolutions. So when you set out a story for your game you should consider where your going with it at the end, what conflicts and twists may occur to effect the story during, and ways of over coming these...this is where the player has the role of affecting the game.
So yeah, unfortunately, i'd have to say not many Klik games have wooed me all to much as far as story goes. Maybe I need to play more often, but I hope my boring speech has been enlightning in some way. Cheers!

Haven't played the Spirit Engine. Stupid 56K modem. I'd go with Diabolika 2 . ED's story was above average, the gameplay and graphics was above average, only thing that made it more famous than the above average front page game was that Blackeye Software made it.
For commercial games, I'd choose Mafia. Now THAT had a suprise ending. I actually thought it was a bad dream. First game that actually made me sad that the characters died.
Or Baldur's Gate and Betrayal at Krondor. Some idiots wrote books on them and people actually bought them . But then again, I recall The Scorpion King being a best-seller book once.
But I hope a the certain game I'm working on will have a storyline that shall be regarded as much better than all those other klik games. After all, the background story alone already has 3 full pages and I haven't even started on the war yet .
Oh well... we all have dreams...

yea Mafia had a real nice story that moved along very nicely.
But Planescape Torment or Knights of the Old Republic stand tall above nearly anything else bar Dues Ex.
Clickwise im not really sure. Stories on this site suck because people just make their games for fun. Not for money like those DAMN SHAREWARE DEVELOPERS GOIN FOR ALL THAT NVIDIA CRAP AND MAKIN THEIR GAMES DREARY ANOYING PIECES OF S*** WITH SYSTEM SPECS SO HIGH THAT NASA WOULDNT BE ABLE TO RUN THEM... ahem
Secret of Mana has a wicked twist... who would have guessed that the tree was the key all along... I mean... it's a tree

Secret of Mana's story was pretty obvious. Now Live a Live, that had one of the best storylines of any SNES game. I kinda expected the 'bonus level' to be just that... a cliche bonus level where the knight saves the princess.
But no, he turned into a demon boss. I really didn't expect that, especially the way the game went along. Even after all those thousands of cliche games and movies I've gone through, I didn't expect it. The game was actually kinda touching, especially the last part when one of your characters faces the guy.
