Anyone else a fan of this great bbc comedy. I'm a big fan, got both dvds. Im australian, and we just got the 2 back in business eps with the surprise ending which was funny. So this is where to go to discuss anything office-related.

And people think she's just a big pair of tits.

I really don't get what people see in that programme. Its really boring and the humour is more embarassing than funny. Can't believe there is going to be an American version....

English and Americans like different comedies. I can't see people there enjoying the programme i.e their t.v schedule for example:

6.00- Frasier
6.30- Scrubs
7.00- Friends
7.30- The Office (??)

HeyHey, I love The Office. I own both DVDs and I was very happy to see the final two parts on thursday night (im australian as well). Im glad there are other fans of the show here.

Just look at my signature.

Darkman, you are entitled to your oppinion but if your trying to compare this classic show to the likes of 'scrubs'or 'friends' than boy, I'd hate to be your TV.

Im mixed about the american version. All I know is red dwarf, men behaving badly and coupling (three other british comedies) were poorly converted for the american audience. However, I am happy that the americans enjoy tand understand the british version enough to wanna make their own, plus Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are still producing it and I think fans should be able to trust them.
And if all else fails we can look forward to Ricky and Stephen new comedy which is already being developed.

haha, I also love Spaced, but its impossible to get it on dvd over here cos of the regional differences and because whoever bloody makes the dvds didnt think people in australia would want it.

Back to the office though.
I also own the script book of the entire first series.

heres some of David's famous poetry: (ahem)

Excalibur
by David Brent

I froze your tears and made a dagger
And stabbed it in my cock forever
It stays there like Excalibur
Are you my Arthur?
Say you are

Take this cool, dark, steel-ed blade
Steal it
Sheath it in your lake
I'd drown with you to be together
Must I breathe?
Cos I need heaven

I know this post is long enough but do you have any favourite Office or Spaced moments Damien?

Ricky Gervais: "When i was doing english at school, I was told just to write what you know"
Steve Merchant: "that's why you wan't our next show to be about you, trapped inside a futuristic prison"
Ricky:"well that's...It's called brain gaol"

The dvd 1 interview is full of classic stuff like that

hehe, i love the office too. the thing i like most about it is that it's not just a comedy, it's an acute observation on the mundanity of real life, the arseholes that stay in control, and the injustices of love and lust (tim and dawn).

the episode i still enjoy the most is the one with the annual quiz. watch the end again... it does carry a message with it.

i, too, am shocked with the american version... more to the point, shocked that gervais and merchant would allow it. having seen what they did to fawlty towers (basil fawlty a woman!?) i really don't hold high hopes.

Yeah i loved it when Ricky was explaining to Stephen why on the intro it only had Gervais' name and not Stephen's. All I can say is it involved plenty of hand signals.

You said you owned both DVDs, do you happen to know whether the second series has any easter eggs? cos apparently the british version contains a secret pilot episode as seen in the series one doco.
