Just so you know, Gmax is a 3D modelling and animation program made by the creators of 3D Studio Max.
I need help with materials on it.
I'm trying to make a forested battle scene(Final Fantasy 9 style).
I know how to aply a mapped material to an object.
I have one cylindrical object surrounding the scene set up as a tree background(If you've played FF IX in the forest battle scene, you'll notice the tree background is just mapped onto an object ). On the bitmap of the tree used for the material, I have one part colored pure black that I want invisible. Is there a way in the material editor to make one color on the map be invisible?

Well, if it works anything like 3DS Max, there should be a slot for an opacity map. Go into whatever graphics program you are making, and make everything you want to stay white, and everything you want to be transparent black. Then, just apply the opacity map.

In other words, I open the map in whatever program I used to do it and make the pure black color be set as transparent?
