This engine involves:
- Realtime Clock! (if it is 3:04pm in the real world, it is in the engine too!)
- 5:00am - 7:00pm = Dawn
- 7:00am - 5:00pm = Daylight
- 5:00pm - 7:00pm = Dusk
- 7:00pm - 5:00am = Night
- Moon and sun move accordingly every hour
- Three Light Degress - Full sun (day), half sun (dawn, dusk) and no sun (night)
- TimeWarp Protection, No turning back! (without screwing urself over)
- Remembers the last time u played and Calculates difference
- Events could happen at certain times
I'm using this in an upcoming game, so you wont see the engine until then!
Gah!

We all knew that. The problem is the light degress is difficult to do without making the entire move in jerky, crap slowmo. That's just the obvious stuff.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.

You could just have 3 frames;
Morning, Day and Night.
Maybe if you had some place saving inis, and then just reboot the level. This isnt the best way, but its better then having active overlappers

Dumb suggestion: If you're in some town people won't leave the lights off when it's dark. The light should also shine out of the windows. It could be a nice idea to use multiple frames, except that you had to store ALL positions of the frames and directions and stuff. Because if you just stuck an active object over the windows with lights it would be darkened.

Those lights should take near enough as the whole screen of light would. Possibly a few transparent active objects, not that much effort required.
