What moron at Nintendo decided not to go ahead with online play? If I recall someone at Nintendo in Japan didnt think people would like online play, and they thought GCN to GBA connectivity would be better. So the game cube only has 2 online games now. And there both phantasy Star online. And looking back 3rd party games have decided to go online with ps2 and Xbox and not with game cube making the gcn versions less enjoyable than the ones on other systems. Like the new splinter cell, and many sports games. And speaking of Sports games, its no wonder why there are no ESPN games on game cube. Thats because Sega decided not to make them for GCN because of low sales. And now many more companys are dropping their support. Ive been a nintendo freak since the beggining but now im pissed at them. What were they thinking????
Moved this to general chat. Only DC related stuff should go in the Daily Click forum.

Thats what I was talking about! That quote! Why make modems and no online games? Did they just make that for stinkin Phantasy Star? And LAN games? WTF!!!
It's not yet profitable enough to warrent investing lots of money in running servers, making and updating dedicated online games etc. Microsoft don't mind spending that money but Nintendo tend to be more cautious.
As much as I'd love SSB online, I still wouldn't pay extra (monthly) for it. There were rumours of some kind of deal with GameSpy that would provide free online 'Cube gaming, which would be great, but for now if you want that kind of thing then use your PC.
"Real" mulitplayer gaming (ie, with people sitting next to you) is still better than online anyway in my opinion, although it depends on the genre.
You *can* play the Gamecube online for free. Three games support it currently (Kirby Air Ride, Mario Kart DD, and 1080 snowboarding). Go to www.warppipe.com for more information. The only problems are that you must have broadband internet, and if you don't live fairly close to the other person it will be extremely laggy. The games were actually designed for LAN play, not internet play, and thats why they may have speed problems. But it does work pretty well, and it's fun playing Mario Kart online.
99 percent chance that the above post is 100 percent correct.
i also heard somewhere, maybe it was a while ago, that Nintendo and Gamespy hooked up and Nintendo fell pregnant so Gamespy are getting the cube to have online game playing for free. no monthly charges and all that... or just go to warppipe.com and get it free
im sure sure about this but i think that there is one online game in europe and that is phantasy star online, however the internet access pack or whatever is needed isnt avaliable in europe at
