hmm.. it really depends on the overall style of your game, from what i can see its very "bubbly" and cartoony like style. It also depends on the climate the game takes place in, is it a jungle? Anyway...looks like you need more trees, and something other than a solid background. Try making some textured tiles. ( and trees
id change the greeny shoreline colour to a blue a touch lighter then the sea.
maybe a more sandy looking colour for the overall ground seing as thats like Dark dirt colour. if doing sand do little dots and such to give it the sandy effect.
I'd say like of wavy layer whitish looking stuff like you get at a real beach would be the go, but it wouldn't really match the other graphics if you did it how it actually does look in real life.

Soil doesn't usually meet the sea, that's probably why it looks odd. If it was sand it'd look more like it.
In other words, you need some little cliffs X)
