Think Joust when dealing with air enemies (press space faster to fly higher), and then have ground based platforming elements... Maybe have it so you have to eat seeds which in turn fill up a poop-o-meter which lets you crap on ground enemies or on dangerous ground such as acid to make it safe to walk on.
