Lol, you know how pixar makes thier movies?, they use a renderfarm, it is kinda like a supercomputer but used to process 3d animation over networked computers.I found out Lightwave 3d 8 had this function on it so i tried it and now i have my own mini-renderfarm.Have you ever heard of this?I can now do 3d animation 2 times faster just with two computers.I think I like this program.
lol, im planning to just gather computer motherboards and small harddrives to make a hillbilly supercomputer, this should help on movies with special effects.I can connect about 1000 computers maximum.
Right, and one time I built a UFO and flew to the moon.
Your entire second post seems horriblly noobish.... it doesn't just take motherboards and small harddrives to make a super computer and I seriously doubt you will come close to 1000 computers lol.... also if you had more then one mother board in a case (with more then one network card, more then one power supply, more then one processor, more then one heat sink/fan, ect) you would have alot more heat to deal with and you would need more fans and such just to keep the thing from ruining itself. Not to mention I doubt you have the technical or engineering skills needed to design your multi mother board "case".... And if you plan to give each one cases then you just plan to aquire computers and hook them together... which would be more expensive.
Not to even get into the fact that A) Are you even making movies? and B)Not with the kind of special effects you would be able to do by yourself....
There are probally even more technical flaws with your statement, however I am no expert in this "field"...
Zim: there's going to be a bottleneck somewhere. You can't just stick a thousand computers together an expect to have a computer 1,000 times more powerful.

What if you just hacked into bigpond and got every computer connected to the internet to render your movie? Then any time someone logged on they would render the movie for you!
also firewire can only be hotlinked 52 times, assuming thats the way you would do it. LOTR's render farm had 10GB per second bandwith and several petabytes of space.
Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?
Anne-Marie: No, they have to share one.

i use g5 at my school and they are good but i just dont like using them because they generate ALOT of unrecoverable errors.I get my money from dividends from alaska and i used it to buy lightwave.Lightwave is pretty pricy, about 1500 bucks but who cares, one day it will pay for itself.
try Movie100 i think its called, ill find out the full name if you want. aparently its what many major Hollywood-based studios use, guy at my uni got to use one at Bournemouth years ago. said its possibly the best computer for video editing/rendering... ever.
When I was a student I used to rape the student software deals, back in the day I got Photoshop 6 and 3D Studio MAX 3 for about a tenth of the proper cost, there was just an agreement I couldn't use them for anything making me a profit. These days I just mug small children of their lunch money to buy the latest versions.
