News posted 16th October, 2005 by Knudde (Shab)
Well, I thought that maybe, someone else might post this news, but I guess I might as well do it now.

Klik Academy is running a halloween competition. The full rules and info can be found here.

Vortex is the leader of this compo though.

well, seems like all the people who made KA are inactive there now...nobody knows it originally was my stupid idea.

Well, Klik Academy sounds better than "Hayo's stupid idea", it's not a stupid idea though, it's a good one just needs more activity.

Posted by axel 16th October, 2005

i belive that's why they started this compo :P

I am the leader of KA now, Pete stepped down a while ago. I made a news post about it on KA. I did pm Circy about the contest the day after I started it but I guess he doesn't read his pms :P. Thanks for mentioning it :). I want to get KA more active and that is why I started the competion of course, things have been very slow lately and I want to get some more intrest in the site again ;). I am working on some site revisions though and they should be inplace by the end of the month. Hope you all enter the contest!

The big problem of the academy/school idea is the teaching part. You either end up with a very small amount of students you are coaching, or a huge group you can only feed with article-like instalments. Both ways take a lot of time and give you a load of negative comments, which is why I am not really active at the moment...I will come back tho.

I'm quite pleased of the site from a technical standpoint (you should see the hodgpodge of mine and Steve's code that runs it, ugly stuff) but I've completely run out of time for stuff like KA, hence I passed the torch to Vortex.

2 weeks hmm . . . wonder if I can talk my friend into doing some graphics :P.

Pete! Get back, we need you! Vortex won't let us say naughty things in the shoutbox... :( He even banned urine snowballs!

Klik Academy just needs a redesign in my opinion - I think its a bit messy. And I also think it concentrates too much on the whole school type thing - it needs to concentrate a bit more on downloads, previews .etc as well. Just my opinion anyway.

"it needs to concentrate a bit more on downloads, previews .etc as well." You mean, "make it more like TDC"?

Posted by Matt Boothman 17th October, 2005

Need more courses. Need more teachers. I might do course one time. You shall see.

Posted by Phredreeke 17th October, 2005

You could ban violent games on TDC, but allow them to be submitted to KA. I think I asked before, and was told KA allows games of a sexual nature if done in a tasteful manner. So people, make more sex games XD

TDC should host more Competetions.

Posted by Flava 17th October, 2005

"You mean, "make it more like TDC"?" If you want it popular, then probably yeh. This is just my opinion - but I personally wouldn't visit the site often just for courses alone.. I mean the courses are good - but other than that there is no real reason for visiting the site. I think maybe if it was made more of a community type thing - then yeh it would be more popular. Just my opinion though - feel free to slag me off about it if you want x)

Well the whole point was not to create a clone of DC; we needed a USP and I think we found it in the courses/teachers ideology. Phredreeke, I'm not sure what good that would do, also there is no official partnership between DC and KA in place to make any sort of system like that function.

Well your idea in my opinion isn't as popular as it could be.
