General Poll #19
News posted 28th September, 2007 by Broomie
With another week gone it's time for another poll and from our last poll a total of 108 users voted for what they'd prefer as the overall theme for this year's Christmas Competition. Well it's safe to say we most likely will be focusing on a Winter theme as it gained a total of 48 votes! With 17 votes, the motif for a Christmas theme was quite behind in second place and in third place 14 people didn't even want a theme! To view the full results click here.

.:THIS WEEK'S POLL:.

What continent are you from?

Okay, not the most exciting of polls but it's quite hard to come up with decent questions sometimes so if you do have any suggestions for a poll then please do contact me. And as you may have noticed I thought it would be interesting to see where exactly everyone is from. We've already had forums threads counting the amount of people from different countries but I don't think TDC is capable of listing 194 different options (haven't actually tried it) so not only is it easier but it's more logical as well to deal with continents.

I wonder if there will be any (serious) votes for Antarctica.

And it's called Oceania or Australasia, not Australia. Australia is the country, not the continent. It's like calling North America USA. New Zealand is not part of Australia.

Sorry about my rant

I'm from Asia

Posted by Broomie 28th September, 2007

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the whole continent was referred to as Australia and Oceania was just the region of countries. For instance, the British Isles is England, Scotland, Wales and all of Ireland as a region whilst the countries are in Europe.

I can change it to Oceania but globally I'm quite sure it's always been referred to as Australia rather than Oceania/Australasia when seen as a continent.

Well Europe isn't actually separated from Asia by any ocean so some people call Europe Euro asia, meaning the area. Whereas the whole is just Asia.

But since you've started it you may as well keep everything as it is.

Yeah it's Oceania, and I swear we've had this poll before :\ ... Must've been another site I guess?

(... ok, thinking of it I think it's mine! hahahaha, nevermind)

I have done a bit more research and although Australia is still the official continent, it actually does leave out many countries which don't seem to belong to a continent at all. Good thing nobody has voted for Australia which I've now replaced with Oceania.

And we may have had this poll before but we now have newer people.

Australia is country and Australia and Oceania are continent created by hundreds/thousands of islands. It's like Great Britain is a name of Island, a Country and it's in Europe And for countries it can be checked but there are also possibilities that someone from Europe will vote for Libia or sth like that.

You know, it was 14 people that voted no theme. Not 13.
Anyway, go Europe

Well that was fun. I always wondered how the members here were spread out across the world. There are more from North America than I thought, I thought I was one of the only ones!

Go North America and Europe, lol (ps. Canada rocks Eh?

Posted by Fanotherpg 29th September, 2007

I always wanted to visit Canada

"It's like calling North America USA." The last time I checked, the USA IS North America. Canada and Mexico are more like our buffers from the artic blasts and tropical heat waves, respectively.

Yes, the US is the center of the world. The world only has 6 countries, U.S. , England, France, Candida, Mexico, and Iracistan

Posted by Guru Rinpoche 1st October, 2007

No, I'm saying that the US transcends geographical/politcal definition, and that there are no other countries. Anywhere. Except China. That's where we get our cheap stuff.

I wont be returning to North America for a couple of years after my recent experience there. I'm just really glad to be home, lol.

exactly!

Did you go to New York City? Because NYC just happens to be a festering cesspool of degeneracy and debauchery; it's also the last remaining portal to hell. But global warming will take care of all that, and most of california too, thank god. At least were not all rapists.

Australia will always be a piece of land.
