My Final Story
News posted 20th January, 2008 by Broomie
As the title may suggest, I am leaving my post as admin and after having a long and hard think about it I think this decision is best for everyone. Although there are a few things that I would rather not share in public, I will explain the principle reason of my retirement.

One thing is for certain, I haven't left on bad terms. I still have the same respect for the staff members as I did when I first joined the editorial team. The main reason is that I simply do not like being an administrator here as it's something I don't have a lot of interest in anymore. When I applied for the position the only thing that was going through my mind was that it maybe fun, I mean, who doesn't want power? Sure, it's nice to have these abilities and have a bit of authority yet it's something I don't particularly want here. Maybe 2 or 3 years ago I would be more comfortable in this position but I haven't touched a klik product in months. It's like asking Circy to moderator a Ruby Wax fan forum... or anyone for that matter. The point is it's just not for me.

And University is also taking up a large amount of my time so at some points I just don't have any room left for TDC at all. University takes up the majority of my time, work is getting in the way of everything else and so is having a social life outside of these walls so I just can't dedicate as much time as I should, which would obviously affect the activity of the front page. Leaving now just makes it's better, not just for me but for others too.

This isn't really goodbye as I'm not quitting the site, just the position which I hope you all respect me for. I'll still stick around yet I don't know how long for. Thanks to everyone though who supported me and if TDC do find a replacement I hope they choose someone who will enjoy the job more than I did. It's nothing to do with the administration being boring, but when you've lost interest in the whole point behind this site it's quite hard to maintain the same enthusiasm you once had.

Either way though, I really enjoyed my position as admin up until now and I really think it is best that I just leave now and actually tell you the main reasons rather than just drift away. One thing is for sure though, I'm sure gonna' miss the private forums. ;)

That's a bit unexpected.

Is this the first time someone's resigned as admin? You're making history, Broomie!

Being admin on this site is pretty much little more then being a "super user", I don't think anyone can truly say that theres a true amount of responsibility held with the title.

Why would you give it up?

Posted by Pixelthief 20th January, 2008

Because admins do alot more then sit around and look pretty.

YARLY Brandon, they need to clean up after you.

I'm sorry to hear that Broomie. Good luck in University.

You seem to be fallowing me around a lot Pixelthief. I have a couple theorys for that though.

One, you have an undying love for me, or two, you have an undying hate for me. Which is it? Because quite frankly, I haven't done anything wrong, or anything that requires "cleaning up". Thanks for caring though. That's sweet. Image

Yea mate, have a good un out there in the real world.

I understand your reason for quiting. I'm in the same situation as I'm closing in on the end of my university studies. It really takes alot of extra time when you are forced to wrap everything up .

For some reason I don't find it surprising. TDC is quite unadministratable.

Posted by Hayo 21st January, 2008
