New Articles - And An Introduction!
News posted 9th May, 2009 by Rob Rule
Over the course of the last two months, TDC member maVado has been hard at work submitting articles on a subject many of us have had to tackle at one time or another: that of the RPG inventory. He's written 5 of a series of 6 very indepth articles on all aspects of creating your own Diablo-esque inventory system, and is currently hard at work on the final piece. Have a read of what he's done so far! Like any good article, maVado's work includes clear, simple instructions, screenshots and downloadable examples of the subjects he covers and tons of encouragement along the way. Educational stuff that deserves a look if you're in the market for a solid new inventory for your latest project, or are just looking to learn a few new tricks.

I suppose I can't get away with my first news post without writing something of an introduction, but I'll try to keep it brief. I'd like to thank my agent for his tireless work, Rikus for believing in me, TDCers for the warm welcome in the comments section and over DCmail, my secretary and my makeup artist, Uri Geller, the milkman, the neighbours' dog... pretty much everyone but the guy who gave me chickenpox back in lower school. Thank you one and all.

I hope to give you regular coverage on all the latest TDC happenings and the exciting worlds that are klik and amateur indie game making.

tl;dr version: Mavado made an RPG inventory article.

Decent start, but next time try not to write an essay.

I largely did, but we have visitors of all skill levels, and there are always more people buying Clickteam products, so I reckon mavado's articles could help a lot of people.

Nothing wrong with a detailed and informative news post.

Except the people complaining about them.

I'd hardly consider a paragraph an essay. Gives us some variety to the news posts, anyway, as Robert Rule does his news posts differently. We get some mixed news, which is certainly a good thing in my eyes.

And congratulations on your new position, Robert Rule.

Surely you should thank the person who gave you chicken pox... as the later you get it the far worse it is!

Whee five news posts in a day

Haha, true. I got chicken pox when I was 20!

I like reading long-ish news posts. Otherwise the eds are just reiterating what's in the sidebars. Robert's posts remind me of myself during the Click Cafe era. All the best to the new editors. Don't get burned out too early on
