TDC-KLIKCAST HALLOWEEN 09 COMPO!
News posted 9th September, 2009 by Rikus
Welcome to the 2009 TDC-KLIKCAST HALLOWEEN 09 COMPO! Thats right folks it is official compo time, take a break from that 2-year project you are working on! We are looking for scary games this month!

The genre can range from the bloody castlevania or zombie slasher action games to the Mood setting terrifying slow pacing of a rpg haunted house game. The game does not have to have a billion levels either and we are not looking for hours of gameplay. If you can get your point across and scare the heck out of the people playing the game you know you did a good job.

Judging will be done by myself and like te TDC-Mini compo ALL the entries will be reviewed on the next special halloween klikcast and a prize can be won for the winner! Runners up will receive 2000 and 1000 dc points respectfully and all the games also will get their own front page Haloween 09 compo button so that years from now people can still easily check out your games. Once you finish your game upload it to the daily click site with the first line stating this was made for the halloween 09 compo so I can add you to the list of games to review. I will also be looking for the reactions of the people that downloaded your game so not only scare me but scare the heck out of everyone here. Final entries must be received by October 16th. That is just over 1 month. Have fun, enjoy and get ready to turn on your dark scary side. -Lights off!-

For inspiration see our halloween forum topic for previous scary games submitted to the site ---> MUHAHAHA

Finally!

This is just what we need! I may make something, but school's coming up so I might not.

Does the game have to be scary?

Interesting... I'm all pumped for Halloween... mostly the costume design part... but I might have a crack at it. If it ever gets finished.

For Halloween this year I'm going to be my avatar.

I wonder if simply turning off the lights in a difficult setting is good enough. Hmmm. I wonder if my idea qualifies.

Remember, you don't have to make the dirge of zombie games that always come up, just make it atmospheric.

Sweet deal I think I'll have to jump in on this one.

as much as i'd love to (as I said in my previously deleted comment) i've had a think about it and I would just get sidetracked from my current project as usual.

hope there are some good entries

"a prize can be won for the winner!"

"Runners up will receive 2000 and 1000 dc points respectfully".

I'm confused. Is the prize for 1st place a secret? I take it you might have meant to say:
Winner gets 2000 points
Runner up gets 1000 points

Or is there actually some other hidden prize for 1st place?

Posted by Rikus 10th September, 2009

Yep a actual Physical cool prize will be mailed out by myself to the winner like we did in the tdc-mini comp. So that is all sorts of cool right there

Posted by OMC 10th September, 2009

What was the prize for the mini compo? O_o I don't think I ever learned what it was.

Posted by Dynamite 11th September, 2009

I've been waiting all year for this

Posted by UrbanMonk 11th September, 2009

The prize was secret I believe.

I'm in.

count me in!
i already spent the last few hours working on the game

its called Pac-trip, pacman eats magic mushrooms and then flies on a dark psychedelic trip, killing monsters from various other games etc.

hope using ripped graphics are okey.

So does it have to be scary? I don't think of myself as a mr.scary man. ;_;

Posted by W3R3W00F 11th September, 2009

I am the master of scary- I use JPG graphics!!!!

Posted by DMT 12th September, 2009

Aahh!!! Not JPG!!!

Posted by UrbanMonk 12th September, 2009

I wouldn't know how to make a scary game. I'd end up doing one of those cheap stare at the dot things.

Posted by Rikus 12th September, 2009

You can do the scary story driven road or the action/slasher game road both are allowed!

Also if philip (the winner of the mini comp) is still around I am sure he can tell everyone what he got

Am I allowed to do a halloween themed brick puzzle game? It wouldn't have as much scare factor but could still be real fun.

Posted by Rikus 13th September, 2009

Rox Flame, yes a halloween themed (points for the scare factor right there) brick puzzle game is fine by me, totally go for it sounds original and fun!

Remember if you dont know how to do scary just build any type of genre around halloween and you are good to go
