Nifflas, creator of the popular Knytt, released a new game called FiNCK a few days ago. FiNCK is generally your normal platform game, but with some interesting puzzle elements thrown in.
Nifflas' inspiration comes from a small Nintendo game you might have heard of - Super Mario Bros. 2, though others have also compared it to Lyle in Cube Sector. You're able to pick up objects from beneath you, and then use those objects to solve puzzles and eventually complete the various areas within the game. You can throw objects, or use them to increase the height of your jumps. Picking up birds can help you to jump even higher, or even fly to upper platforms. Then there are several other objects, such as bombs, which add even more to the mix.
It's your general Nifflas affair, but in my opinion it adds a lot more fun compared to a game such as Knytt. It's a short and sweet platform game containing, in places, some fairly tricky puzzles. The game is free along with a level editor that allows you to create your own areas and puzzles - though you'll have to pay for a $4 add-on in order to play custom levels. As far as I'm aware it's a new way of trying to make money from a game, and it'll be interesting to see if people are willing to pay a small price for the add-on. You can also buy the game's soundtrack for $3.
FiNCK is available to download for free at Nifflas' Games.
