Normally engine demos, or demos for that that matter would not typically get front page coverage, unless they was particularly exceptional. Resident TDC fellow Duncan has met such criteria with his recently released engine demo of a potential game called Aqua Boy.
Unfortunately Duncan has doubts whether this game will ever get finished, so be sure to check out his game and post your thoughts on his demo. Personally I think all this engine is missing is a configurable/selectable control scheme.
Comments from Duncan:
Aqua Boy is a little Metroidvania-type game I worked on for a few months last year. I'd just played a bit of Aquaria and was struck by how the combat completely failed to be intuitive or engrossing - so I thought I'd try to do better! (N.B.: I don't think I have.)
I don't think I'm going to finish the game, but I might re-use some of the assets in a more streamlined project.
