So i've not been doing much with this lately (had other things all involving cider on this last couple of weeks) but have made a few steps forwards.
Firstly, some AI has been coded for the drones and the basic enemy fighter. The drones act just like mindless robotic affair, firing at regular intervals in non-player specific directions and move with little pattern. The idea was to make them a pain in the backside to the Earth forces in the middle of dog-fights. The basic enemy fighter is a little more savey, with some strategy coded into the way they move around the player and a firing pattern based upon where the player is in front of them. Other drones and enemy ships will act differently and accordingly.
Secondly, in between trying to get the AI to do what i wanted it to do, i've been working on artwork for the cut-scenes. Deciding on the style was a fun choice, but after some rose-tinted thinking i have decided to go with the mid 90's look, with animations similar to the likes of Another World and X-Wing. The storyboard for the intro is still work-in-progress and is looking pretty good so far.
This game was supposed to be a quick, small game and in true Marko fashion has quickly turned into a full-scale project!
