Fangame has a hero. His name is "Jonny". He's a semi-cool teenager with nothing particularly special about him (except he has the semi-amazing ability to perform a double-jump in mid air).
What Fangame does not have is a story. What exactly is Jonny's quest (not to be confused with "Jonny Quest")? What is he searching for? What is the goal?
What I'm thinking is that Jonny should be about his normal business, when he loses something dear to him (perhaps a pet of some kind, which escapes its bounds and takes off into the yard). Whatever this beloved item or pet is, he chases it across the yard and either into a cave or hole in the ground, after which begins his dangerous quest.
I think back on a favorite NES game of mine: Blaster Master. In case you have not played the game, it's about a boy with a beloved pet frog. One day the frog's jar tips over and the frog hops away. Jason chases. The frog then leaps into a big hole in the ground (which is totally random, but it does the job). Jason then jumps in after (which shows not only an unrivaled love for his dear frog but also a lack of concern for almost certain death). It's the perfect blend of simplicity, randomness, and reason (as well as a touch of the lack thereof).
So I ask again, what is Jonny's quest? Why did he leave the comforts of his home to embark on a perilous journey, just to die a thousand deaths before ever returning?
