Success!

Looks like all the tedious work paid off! If you read the previous devlog you would know what I mean.

Anyway, testers are so far reporting that the lag is gone in Fangame. This is awesome news! Along with the changes that eliminated the lag also allows for a more reliable and stable collision system in the physics engine. Granted, changing that much stuff at once did cause some bugs to come up, but they shouldn't be too big of a problem.

I'm gonna add to 1 percent to project progress for this!

Remember, we could still use some testers, so visit http://fangame.vertigofx.com and check out the recruitment center for info on how to become an official beta tester!

Good for you!
Just out of curiosity, how long have you been klikkin?

I'm not sure exactly. The best thing I think I can go by is when I purchased MMF2, which was back in February (of this year). I used an unregistered version before that for a little while though. Either way, it's been less than a year

Wow thats really impressive! You learned how to make a custom movement and all that stuff in less than a year?

Is that supposed to be sarcastic? Forgive my cynical response. I'm not trying to imply that you're being mean. I just want to make sure, because if you truly are proud of me then that would make me very happy

...but yes, to answer your question. I've only been using MMF2 for less than a year, or something about like that. Let me check something...

Okay, well before I got into MMF2 I tried using Game Maker. I don't have that any more but I have some of the prototype builds from it, and it looks like most of those were created around April of 2008. Now I know that's more than year ago, but that was long before I got into MMF2, and like I said, I didn't actually own a copy of it until at least February of 2009 (almost 8 months ago). Even then, after it arrived in the mail I was busy with life so I didn't even touch it until after my wedding, which was June 20th.

Maybe I'm looking into it too much.

Short answer: yes.

K, just wondering. It was interesting because custom movements are rather tricky for people new to the concept (a year is nothing), but the Active/backdrop issue is a fundamental. So I was just wondering, impressive anyway!

Thank you. I began with a couple of tutorials, such as DavidN's platform movement tutorial. Of course, over time I have modified and added and tweaked and customized so much there's barely anything from that original tutorial left! =]

I am a very fast learner, though, particularly when I want something to work a certain way.

I appreciate the encouragement I am getting here! It really makes it easier to keep going!

Yes I truly am impressed. I still cant figure out the custom platform movement stuff I just use the PMO.

I would be more than happy to help you figure it out. There comes a point where it'll just spark something in your head that makes you go "ohhh.. well that makes perfect sense" and it becomes quite simple to advance from there.

I had a tough time getting the hang of FastLoops, but now that I understand how they work behind the scenes, they're a breeze.
