Graphics

What should I do with this game's graphics? Should I just add more to it, or do a total re-haul of it style-wise? Is anybody up for the challenge of giving this game a more stylish look? Would it benefit from a more cartoony theme?

Just one of the things I'm thinking about with this game, any help would be well-received. Now that I've finished my latest game, 'The Bat Sweeper', I can carry on working on this one.

Rehaul the sprites. Though the game might benefit from the sprites being bigger, which would probably entail rehauling all the graphics.

I have a suggestion for the bullets as well. I'm quite fond of the counter strike 2d style of bullets, which is a quick yellow line with some small yellow particles shooting at the same angle as the line. Would probably throw your collision detection off though.

There's no reason why the sprites shouldn't be drawn larger (fatter and taller). I just want to avoid making the view distance smaller in comparison to the size of the people, otherwise it feels very claustrophobic.

I don't know what do do with the bullets at the moment. How do you feel yellow lines would benefit the game? Would an auto-target system help? At the moment you have to aim your crosshair at the enemy's feet in order to hit it. That's why I made a strange cylindrical crosshair thing.

I was impressed by what I played, and I think it would be even more appealing with shiny slightly larger graphics. It's not that there's anything wrong with the current ones, but you should find someone who's willing to sink some time solely into graphics while you code.

I haven't played enough to be able to use anything but the pistol, but I almost think an instant-hit system where you don't even see the bullet might be better. Could be too easy though!

I simply feel that the bullets would look better. The ones you fire now are kinda...large. Throws off the look of the rest of the game for myself.

I say steer clear of a cartoony style. The game's assets at the moment are its immersion and atmosphere. Your visual style should push those elements of it.

It needs visuals akin to a horror film. Stark lighting, strong shadows, realistic people with everyday physiques, etc. Push the concepts of desolation, isolation and crisis. Make things run-down, dirty, broken, uncomfortable, occasionally disgusting.
