change of direction

After loads of stress testing and experimenting I realised that MMF2 isnt powerful enough to create a full on big RTS game like age of empires 2.
I might make a seperate game later if MMF3 proves powerful enough, or if I can be bothered to learn Torque or Unity engines instead.

So I have changed this project into something a bit more managable. You can read about it in the project description which I have updated.

I will be starting from scratch again, although I have learnt so much from all my previous tests that I should be able to make this game as efficient as possible.

Good to hear! It did seem a little ambitious, I'm glad you've found something that should be finishable.

It sounds great, though "Isometric viewpoint with 90 degree rotation" still sounds quick tricky but you will be somewhat of a legend if you integrate that feature.

Good luck with this project ! I'm yet to see a good RTS made using MMF2, I hope this one will be the first.

Thanks guys

@jthongbai - Rotation seems very daunting, but it actually quite simple in concept. Since everything is grid based, you simply got to rotate the values in the array used to store the positions each object. Not quite as easy as it sounds using MMF event editor, but LUA makes it somewhat more managable.

@Johhny - RTS games are very hard to make a decent one. MMF isnt really practical for a complex game like that, but I have learnt most of what I need so I am confident I can make something great! I just need graphics, I am the WORST artist you would ever meet.

I will keep you all updated! Appreciate the support.

YAY! I used to absolutely love Castles, this sounds like a great direction to be moving in
