I realize it's been a long time since I updated this devlog. That doesn't mean work has ceased, however.
I have now fixed all the major bugs I could find in the projectile & display code. Everything is now extremely tight & simplified. Some of these bugfixes have improved the way debris flies from explosions and that sort of thing, it all looks great now.
I've finished work on the UI- or at least the major components of it; there might be some graphical tweaks to come later. Since this meant getting the stats to display properly in the inventory screen, that also means I've had to implement all of my basic gameplay mechanics & calibrate them properly. The player now has four basic stats, determined by cyber implants and other bonuses, that affect your speed, stealth, accuracy and defense.
The mechanisms behind shooting, making noises, moving, and being hurt have all been overhauled and standardized. Many minor bugs along the way have been found and eliminated. This is major housekeeping!
I wanted to include some more gameplay footage but my video codecs aren't working any more. I might need to do a system overhaul soon. I'll try to put up some screens or videos soon, but I thought people might like to know that DataJack is alive and well!
The next thing to work on, now, is A.I.- the big one!!
