On the one hand the graphics and presentation were top-notch, commercial quality. Animations were fluid and the 3D modelling was professional looking and a joy to watch. Sound effects were eerie and atmospheric and the music was pleasing on the ear.
However the gameplay was way too easy. Where i would expect a mini-game to last no more than a couple of minutes for each attempt, this just went on and on and didn't appear to offer any challenge. I'm not sure exactly how long i was playing for but i got to stage 66 with a score of 218340 and had yet to lose a life. I found it very easy to just bat every laundry cart as soon as it appeared, and if the bad guy got to me before one appeared, i just batted him/her instead.
If i was to offer an improvement idea it would be to increase the speed that the enemies run at you alot quicker. When i got to level 3, the nurses began running much quicker, however i would have them running at that speed after about 60 seconds. I would also reduce the ability to hit an enemy directly from the enemy being destroyed to just being pushed back towards the right a few steps. That way hitting the enemy with your long arms just delayed them, rather than giving you a get out of jail free card.
Overall, a good effort that fell at the final furlong.
Hey Marko, that's great feedback, thanks for taking the time to write that up. Yes having a knockback would be better than an instant kill.
I would like to make some changes, but I'd also liek to just get back into Lylian development. So we'll see how it goes.
I agree with Marko, I got to level 64 before I just let myself die due to lack of challenge.
But still it's a very slick production and I think it would fit in the arcade.
@ Mr. Dowling; yeah i can see the dilema you're in now with 2 games, but please carry on with Lylian because MY GOD it looks like it's going to be great!
