Oh noes!

My hard disk crashed and I lost everything!

Just kidding.. I have good backups But I did run into some very last minute trouble with the sponsor splash screen integration, unfortunately. I already thought it was fine, but discovered some issues... Even though there is an extension available to do this in MMF2, it seems that due to a bug in this extension (or MMF2), the embedded swf occasionally "stays in the background" even if I have destroyed with proper events. And this will result in huge performance drop.

This is one of those moments when an MMF2 developer may feel rather "powerless", if he doesn't have extension development capabilities. Oh well, let's see if I can come up with some solution, but the release might get delayed a bit due to this..

That's a very interesting read MJK. Your right its best to take your time and get the issues fixed before releasing it. You must be really smart understanding the Flash integration's and MMF 2 extensions.

I haven't used the flash extension or ever played around with flash, but is it possible to have the sponsor's splash screen as a single-frame sub-app that launches the game proper when it's finished and then terminates itself? I would imagine that terminating the entire application containing the embedded .SWF would force it to stop running in the background, of course having had no experience with it I am probably wrong.

Actually I thought the same about the sub app method, but it didn't work either, no matter if you "end the application" or "destroy" the sub-app. The author of the Flash Preloader extension said he will be looking at the bug at some point, but it seems now that an old build of Flash External Files extension is working somewhat nicely and doesn't replicate this issue. (interestingly though, the newer version of the FEF object, Flash Images Plus, didn't work at all for me). Quite a mess to be honest (this whole process), but I hope it's OK now...*fingers crossed*

Oh well..back to square 1..even the FEF object failed in the end with certain html embedding code that the sponsor is using. It shows just a blank screen when the splash screen should be playing, the rest of the game loads normally..
