A beam of light in the darkness...
Posted 13th Feb 08, by »xerus
Ooo, how dramatic a title. It is though, a dramatic situation!

I've been working on this graphics glitch all day, and I narrowed it down to the culprits "Backdrop 37" and "Backdrop 128"

I've moved them off the frame, and replaced them with backdrops made from new backdrop objects (not clones or anything) and I think *deep breath!* I've fixed it.

If all goes according to plan, and schedule, some form of the Bonesaw game will be online tomorrow (Thursday, Feb 14th)

If something bad happens again (which it might, but at this point the current release candidate build I have out there doesnt seem to be glitching) then you may get what I'll call a "Public beta" or I might push it back and release a demo. However, the pushing back idea isnt really what I want to do since I want to release this game after keeping it to myself and my beta testers for so long!

Check back tomorrow for the word.

Okay well right now there seems to be no glitching in the intro level, but another problem has appeared! Random crashes!

Well, not completely random. It seems that between frames, there is a crash happening with stdrt.exe ... I guess its not as bad as the graphics glitches... but these crashes will probably anger some folk.

I guess stay tuned for more.

Another update!

I've been working with Josh Whelchel (Read: he's been working) on fixing the crash issue. I dont know the technical details, but I do believe this is something that clickteam seriously needs to address in the near future.

But anyway, I've been playing with a build with nearly 0 crashes at this point, so we'll see what happens in about 12 hours or so.

woo!

You sound really dedicated to this. I can just imagine you and Josh working like mad monkeys at this 13th hour (1pm?) trying to get it ready. Can't wait guys! Just be sure to release it perfect. I don't think many of us would really mind if another day in development meant it was completely perfect.

Sounds like some serious shit. Sad that MMF2 can hickup like that.
I pray that everything will work out when you decide to release it.

Yeah, I'm going with some funds from my school, but I have an all access pass and I'll be at the indie game summit =B

Hot dog our lot are going as alumni so they don't get much access. I believe their access will be free but the cost of the flight from UK?! akkkkk.
