Like Totally Awesome Sewers Dude!
Posted 25th Oct 09, by Otter
While creating the town part of Onett, I had a great idea. The original SNES Onett map had random man holes in spots to add to the town mood. Which is cool but I thought, what if you could actually go down them into the sewers? And thus, the idea for the game's first dungeon was born!

By simply pressing space over a manhole, you climb down into the sewer level. (Note: Please click on the screenshots to bring them to actual size, it makes them look much better!)

It's a very maze like dungeon, but can be quite easy after going through it before. All of the towns will be connected by sewers.

But the most awespiring aspect of the sewers is the greenpipes When touching the greenpipes, you'll go to a platforming level with jumping and coins and all your favorite platforming goodies! Even though it's a platforming level, it plays just like Motherworld does normally with battles and etc because it's built on the same engine as Motherworld.

After you finish the platforming level, you pop up at another green pipe somewhere within the dungeon.

The sewers also add some new enemies to the game.

Left to Right:Sewer Mutant, Mr. Batty, Plain Old Crocodile, Manly Fish, Pablo the Middleaged Psychic Karate Turtle

The Sewer Mutants will appear to be three eyed frogs at first, but morph as soon as you get close.
Image

Mr. Batty will charge at you all at once, so it's best to find a barrier to hid behind after waking them up.

Plain Old Crocodile is the most challenging enemy of the bunch. When it gets close, it'll swing its tail at twice, then it'll be dizzy from spinning and can't move for a little bit.

Manly Fish will attack you in one of platforming levels. He will swim below you then jump up every so often.

Pablo the Middleage Psychic Karate Turtle, is obviosly a parody of a some famous cartoon character (Hopefully Jason Orme won't kill me for this) Pablo serves the boss for the Onett Sewers. He run from side to side trying to hit you with his walker, then he'll occasionally throw "karate stars" at you. He takes a lot of hits to finish off, but you'll unlock the 'Pablo Figurine' to put in your house after beating him.

Well, that's all I have in this update for now! Thanks for reading folks!
