Dynabrick
Posted 30th Apr 09, by Rox Flame
Dynabrick is going quite well, I have now almost completed the level editor, which includes "resizable brushes" for adding multiple bricks at a time. Custom save and load menus, various easy ways of selecting which bricks to place, and also non destructive editing by default (the bricks fill gaps when placed rather than overwriting other bricks)

When placing bricks they also automatically seamlessly blend together if they are of the same brick type, so instead of going through various images of the metal brick figuring out which one would "fill in that corner" of your block of metal, its all done seamlessly in realtime. This also applies in game in realtime to various bricks types such as water, dirt, concrete, and goo.

Game play so far includes grid based explosions that are dynamically blocked by different materials, essentailly various loops are run that expand the explosion one grid square at a time and metal and other solid bricks prevent spreading, large enough explosions can still however "wrap around" these bricks.

Have now also made a sweet sweet title graphic.

It won't be long until its time for a testing release for people to bug test

Whoa, that's some awesome art! And the game itself sounds fun! Good luck, mate!

Hey there adam, just curious which art was yours? I've been using a combination of my own art and tweaked art from the clickteam libraries and library addons. I take it you must have done some of the clickteam library art then? I can credit you in the credits if you like.
