Fireball Quest

Within the depths of the Solar Temple lies an aura so intense that it is said to unlock the secrets of magical affinity. When you reach this place, you'll finally learn your first magic skill.

After a hard day's worth of drawing, I managed to construct the massive chamber where the player will learn the Fireball skill. You can see it in the first screenshot I've attached. (Disregard the chain links for now - they'll be correctly rotated during the game.) I'm particularly proud of the way it came out, but I also think it's a bummer that the player will only see a fraction of the room at any given time due to the screen resolution. Oh well.

Once you step into the circle, you'll be whisked away into a strange dream-like world inside Ikkin's mind. The idea behind this is that she already knows magic, but just can't remember how to use it. When you complete a small quest in this dreamworld, you'll learn Fireball and get taken back to the temple, where you can use your new toy to open up new paths in the dungeon.

Oh, and in case you didn't notice before, I updated the graphics on this page with the new title screen.

Thanks guys! I hope I don't disappoint.

It definitely still has a while to go, but there's nothing stopping me from getting a demo of some sort released before it's 100% complete. It's probably better that way anyway, so I can get feedback on the engine before I get too far into the game to make adjustments. We shall see.

I'd be happy to do some testing for you and provide feedback.

I assume you have music sorted?

I'll keep that in mind, Ash. Thanks!

As for music, yeah, I've got it pretty much covered at this point. In fact, the soundtrack is easily the largest part of the game - it clocks in at about 75 megabytes so far. They're in OGG format, and I've been meaning to try and find a good program to compress them without reducing playback quality.
