Heads Up! New gameplay footage.

Rikus was kind enough to interview me about the game. You can check it out in the latest episode of Klikcast:

In addition, I have uploaded the trailer that appeared in the previous episode to YouTube:

I enjoyed your part of the Klikcast! I really like the footage you showed off to 'em, and I DEFINITELY approve of Ikkin's new voice SFX. The last I heard her speak was when you were showing off the new outfit, and I have to say this is lightyears ahead of the sound we heard then.

I'm kinda noticing something in the gameplay, though. It seems like she moves rather slow...I think that may make some of the longer treks more tedious than they need to be. That's only from the gameplay videos, though; have you heard anything about that from your testers?

On a vastly different note, are there any plans to making the game moddable? A prime example would be, say, Aquaria; there's a built-in level design suite, and you can modify existing sprites or add your own (the programming and inner workings are mostly off-limits from what I've seen of it). I know it's quite a challenge to add modularity to a system that doesn't already have it, so I'm just curious.

Thanks, Kal! The new voice effects, funnily enough, are from the same voice actor. I implored her to get a new microphone though, and I really like the results.

As for her moving speed, I've gotten a few comments from my testers in the past about it being a bit slow. It bothered me too, and the only reason I don't make her super-quick is because it would make most of the monsters laughably easy to take down.

Actually, the footage in the Klikcast episode shows her with slightly increased speed, when compared to the Alpha 3 trailer. If that's too slow as well, though, then I've been thinking about adding a Haste spell to the game that would increase her speed even more, or even a Dash ability that would cause damage to foes in addition to increasing travel speed. I'm undecided so far, but in any case, I would want Ikkin to grow into a very agile fighter as the game continues.

As for game mods... Due to the way I've built the game so far, I'm afraid I won't be able to do that. ^^; The only thing players would be able to modify are the image files for the text and inventory icons, and even that is something I didn't intend for them to access.

It was a long shot anyways. Oh well.

Adding a Dash ability or Haste spell could work. But yeah, I personally do think it's a little slow. Maybe if you sped everything up, you could retain some of the challenge?

I thought I recognized her. The better microphone makes a world of difference and now sounds really swell
