Hello all--

Progress has moved along steadily on this under-wraps project, and after some consideration I decided to put together a project page for it.

S-M-R-Koban is the working title for a Sokoban puzzle game built with the turn-based, tile-based movement engine I developed for the 2011 Game Engine Contest. I've updated it since then, brushed up a few features, and streamlined the rest to provide a satisfying Sokoban game.

It will stand out from the rest of the pack with the addition of some of the features from the engine I developed (such as teleport tiles and deadfall pits) and a few little hidden extras that can be unlocked as the player progresses.

Apart from utilizing the engine I developed and creating a complete game from it, this project will also be a significant challenge for me in other ways:

- another collaborative project with other TDC members;
- using an INI file to record the player's progress (my first);
- releasing separate Flash and stand-alone versions of a game;
- extensive research on classic Sokoban levels, as well as creating my own designs and accepting designs from other TDC members

The work-in progress build will always be available via the link above. Once the project is complete, I'll update the link to the download page here at TDC.

MAJOR props go to Mr. Hexagon, who has supplied some truly excellent artwork for the final project!

If you've had a chance to play S-M-R-Koban, please leave your feedback. Thanks!

That's a nice direction you took your engine in.

I wanted to test your game, but it blanked my screen and locked up my pc. So the only thing I did was staring at a black screen ...

Hrm...I did allow full-screen display at the last minute in the most recent build. Have you tried pressing ALT + Enter to see if changing the game to its original window size solves the problem?

If that doesn't seem to solve it, can you please send me some details on your system?

Thanks Jenswa, and good luck on getting it to work.
