Fall into the Gap
Posted 25th Dec 08, by Dr. James MD
Way back when I planned to have different suits in Tormi, in the layered style of guns in Super Metroid. But that would mean wearing about 5 layers of clothes. Doncha think he'd get warm and slowed down? Well it would. I'm wearing 2 jumpers now and it's ruddy hot.

So along comes another new menu item to dress the player.

There are 5 suits to chose from and 6 masks. Yes it's rather Animal Crossingish (oh I best check my town after this :3)

Both suits and masks alter stats and such, not just providing a cheap method of keeping the player out of hot or cold areas. Pour example - swimming is now enabled by wearing the blue suit, but lowers immunity to heat. Some masks even change colour to match the currently worn suit for extra snazziness. Another suit increases sensitivity to light (so you can see better when it gets dark), increases the hearing distance and increases your maximum running speed. But to keep folk using the original orange suit - each other suit cuts attack by 25%. Given the other powerups you can get it's not a huge number and won't impact too much, but it might tip the balance when fighting a boss.

What separates masks and suits is that masks aren't required. You could stroll through the whole game and never need one. One of them is unlocked when you get all the medals too.
Which leads me to another little point. Once you beat a game you will be able to start again but with previously unlocked medals. So it may take 2 or 3 run through's to 100% the medals. But as I said... The final mask isn't needed! Just a bit of fun

And to wrap up this post, a random shot... And also the last screenshot I need release of the purple rock area. I'm working flat out on producing more varied environments. Think of the purple rock zone as one of the first hub.

The world map has also had its size set at 70,000x35,000px with half of that filled! Takes the new machine a while to open the file too, even with 2gb DDR3 ram!

YEAH, ANIMAL CROSSING REFERENCE!
Yay, less purple rock place! No offense, but the purple rock place is old. Maybe a red rock place, or a blue rock place, or THE OUTSIDE!

Seriously though, nice work on the costumes thing. I wish I had some monies (moneys) to buy this thing with. I hope its epic.

Even a year back there was about 5 different areas. I just felt more comfortable showing off the purple rock place cuz I think I did the best job on them graphics

Awesome Dr! BTW, how much do you intend on selling it for?

£4,995 for a multiuser license. £200 for the full version (single user license), £100 for the cut down edition that doesn't contain the game (single user license).

Aka. I dunno :3

Wow that's extremely expensive (but worth it), does that multiuser license also include a Tormishire action figure?
