As much as I loved the original Simon's Quest I always thought that having hearts act as both ammo AND currency was kind of stupid. Since you've mentioned that money will replace hearts, what will power your subweapons now?

And please make Dracula harder than he was in the original. With my golden dagger he went down in about 30 seconds IIRC.

The towns in SQ all look almost exactly the same- you should try to keep them all looking different if possible.

By updated graphics do you mean you're making your own or would you be using ripped graphics from a genesis CV (or something similar).

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to this one!

Oh, I guess I should have mentioned by intention of Dracula, Hearts and what not. Sorry, the description was kind of rushed. x]

Hearts will still be in the game, but currency will be replaced by money bags falling at random from different candles around towns and what not. Those will power your sub-weapons.

I also intended to basically replace the CV2 Dracula completely seeing as he didn't look like Dracula at all, but instead like Death. He'll be in his classic state, meaning the same Dracula you know from all the others, teleportation, fireballs coming at you and a 2nd form, if it's warranted. I agree that the original was either too hard or too easy, depending on what route the player took to defeating him.

As for towns, the only real way to make them look like they did in the original was to keep them basically the same, but I'll see what I can do about sprucing them up.

Now, I WISH I could make my own graphics for it, but aside from sucking at it, for me it would take too long. I instead took the route of using many tiles from Castlevania Dracula X: Rondo of Blood (Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo) for the Super PC Engine and some of a few other various games.

Simon - X68000 Castlevania (recolored a bit for this version)
Whips - Leather/Thorn (Working on), Chain/Morning Star (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Richters Whip), Flame (Same as previous with flame effects)
Enemies - Most of them can be found in Rondo of Blood while others will come from somewhere else

Richter will make 2 cameo appearances as the "other hunters" that give you the Crystals you need. My plans for this game are still being drawn out and we'll see what comes of it. I want to finish this, but if I'm all alone here, it will make things a bit difficult. I'll get a couple screenshots up of what I have, but I must warn you, it's not much...barely anything.

Small Note: I had used Simon from CV4, but found him to be...not that great for what I needed, plus the animations for Richters whip would not have fit him, so the part goes to X68000 Simon instead.
