ButaVX is on a mission to set the record straight! be more precise he's trying to retrieve his favourite ball that was unjustly (as he sees it) snatched from him.

In order to do this, he will have to travel to the end of his small (literally - the world map has only two main areas) world and retrieve the mysterious artifact "Sword of Justice att+10".

arrow keys: move;
z / x: Action / cancel;
Space: inventory / battle report;
Esc: exit.

Apple - restores a small amount of energy
Potion - restores energy
Potion Big - increases the total amount of energy and fully restores it.

Well, okay so this game is amazing to the most amazing extent. What? Really? This is absurd! No one puts this much awesome detail into a game this short! But thank you for doing so! It's like a one big beautiful interactive graphic novel with 8-bit music! The art is just ridiculously detailed and unique (no repeating backgrounds or anything). I love that your character actually thinks he has a right to being upset for losing his ball because of breaking the lady's window. Can I have your game engine? I just wanna slop my own things over it and TAKE IT FOR MYSELF! I fought a broken ipod at one point I think. AMAZING!

Anyway, yeah this is super fine work and kinda cool that it's so short for some reason.

Wait, where's that part shown in the first screenshot? Duck world?!

Thanks for the nice words!

@Johnny Comics: The duck part is... inside ButaVX's soul (you get there if you "lose" a battle).
We are considering releasing this game as open source sometime in the future (have to clean it up a bit first). It's not a particularly good piece of code but it works and might hopefully be useful to somebody.

This game is RIDICULOUSLY good! I am very very impressed with the skill and workmanship that went into it. I'd love to hear more about how you developed the game - especially the process you used to make the drawings.

Thanks for sharing!

@ Jess: It was drawn mainly in Photoshop using color layers (makes it easy to develop the drawing in phases), animated in Cosmigo's Pro Motion and Photoshop.

Some parts were originally drawn on paper first but it soon got out of hand due to the number and size of sheets so hence the switch to Photoshop.

Really nice work!

I didn't really 'get' it, but it was intriguing. I'm halfway between having enjoyed the ride because it was a cute and carefree graphic-novel thing, and being confused and unsatisfied because it was so shallow. I'd either give it a 4 or a 1.

this looks and sounds just super crazy sexy. instant download.

Super work, super art-work, super game! If anyone reading this has yet to play it, i urge you to do so and fall in love with it (like i did)

The purely black and white style make it visually boring after a while and the combat system was excessively weird imo but other than that it's easily one of the best I've seen here in a while.

Great work !

Really nice game. The art was beautiful and I enjoyed the music too. Quite short game though, but it felt very original somehow.

I've not had the chance to play this, but it looks lovely! When I see the screenshots, I have the urge to colour your sprites Fantastic character design, too!

I have to disagree with the "visually boring" comment. I loved the black and white art style. There are so many over-saturated colors in games (including my own) that this was a nice treat.

Awesome work, very smooth graphics, love the style. Coding seems solid too. I couldn't figure out how to "finish" the game though, didn't see any sword of justice or whatever, even though I managed to turn on both of those glowing paths in the wilderness.. found a broom, but that's obviously not it. Fun little piece all the same, even if it was quite weird.

The drawings are well done and the cutscenes are good (but the ones during battle can be tedious after viewing them a few times), but the lack of colour is what pulls this down a lot.

The turn based strategy component is boring as its very simple, fighting peices of junk and theres really no interesting choices to make, its either hit it or don't hit it.

The exploration aspect isn't great, mainly 'cause theres no colours to appreciate. And the player is encounraged to spam the Z button on as many objects as possible, as occasionaly a reward might be given for doing so (finding money). What makes that even more tedious is that occasionaly a text box will pop-up explaining what I can already see visually. Its also not particularly enjoyable to have unexpected/randomly occuring battle segments. Another annoying part is that it includes backtracking, which is quite painful in a dull game.

I didn't get very far, since I don't have the patience.

2 stars cause I liked the linework. A 3rd star cause the engine is pretty good.

I don't understand why so many people say this is a great game. It has some nice art, but the art isn't even colored - so most of the time I am trying to figure out what everything is supposed to be. Is this a house? A space ship? Am I fighting against trash cans? I am a duck now?? Uh... what?! How?? Why??!?

Next, there is little to no story and you are thrown into a world where it is normal to fight against cell phones?? Little explanation? No? Well and when I die I become a duck? What?? I know a game doesn't have to make sense to be enjoyable but in this case I just felt like the game is making fun of me by throwing random stuff at me and I just have to take it.

The combat is very basic and like Alastair said pretty boring and repetitive. I have no interesting stuff to do in a combat, so I just click buttons and hope it's over soon. And I had the same feeling throughout the whole game thinking "omg what is all this? will it be over soon??" and this is not a good sign for any game to me.

I am agree with Blue66 but not quite. Game is really good. I love used animations... I think it would be better to use colorful graphics.

Hahaha, this game is awesome. Stuff does sort of blend together graphically but the pictures themselves and the presentation are really great.

Great Graphics Color would make things better but all in all very well done. I am not sure what Blue66 was winning about but I found the plot and game play to be fairly obvious. Its a young pig, with an overactive imagination, locked in a showdown with an older lady over a soccer ball. What not to like?

Easy 5/5, although some people apparently have trouble enjoying a game unless it has color. The "back tracking" and difficult to understand gameplay was perfectly acceptable considering the focus is clearly on storyline and immersion, not gameplay (I'm clearly not the only one who couldn't find the ancient robot's cave first time around) (I also still don't know what Inspire does, or that hypnotising thing the enemy uses).

Well Well! I was totally taken by suprise. This is fine game, and very original, in the way it is presented. Interesting way of doing graphics. Impressive... Very impressive.

Lol, I just finished searching up and down for this game and found it again, only to find that the second comment is an absurd one left by me years ago. I want to play this again!
