I have no problem at all with a person not liking my game, but i do have a problem with people saying stuff like this without being constructive. I think this sort of behaviour is extremely immature. So anyways, just letting out some steam. Can it really be that people can be however immature they please ?
I have had bad experiences with Nuklear Productions (the guy who wrote that review) personally i think articles, previews and reviews should be checked by an admin aswell! Because alot of cra* is getting let in, i have seen reviews that just go: p_aijiioquoiu9i2-]324=32[r;['a#;'. @;':L'
To fill out the new minimum word count.
There should be someone checking what gets let in.
Anyone agree?
not to forget the review Rhys D gave TOR, all because i gave his game a bad review (which was constructive critisism). but Pete couldnt remove it because its his power of free speech. no offence to pete he's just doing his job but why cant we just have a no bullshit rule?
If it was up to me, every game would get over 5/10, no matter what. Every game has something good in it, even Punch It, because that gives everyone an excuse to kill the creator for crimes against humanity.
I agree. My first thought, when reading the "review", was "why on earth doesn't these things require admin approvals. But then again, these kinda reviews are an excellent way to get points ... >_<
If you have a problem with a review you've received, DC-mail me - if it's an invalid review I'll remove it.
I'm unsure what to do about that one - I do want to delete it as it's atrociously written and barely understandable, but it does offer an opinion on the game, however invalid.
Actually, it's going - if Nuklear's reading this, it's for the first reason, not the second.
Jambo- I think its already a pain to have games being checked, first off, they dont even make sure they pass standerds, they just check it, if the discription is longer then 2 words, it passes! Not to mention that the admins are never willing to accept more help via letting games through & keeping crap from reaching DC, so having them check articles, previews, & reviews would be a waste.
Phizzy- Why would you need to delete a review just to keep points that dont mean crap?
Get fucked Jay. If yours was constructive critisism then so was mine. Fucking tool. Stop pretending you're Mr. Perfect.
And Mr. Wong Chung Bang if you could so politely remove Jay's review from my game Milber 2, as you have done to my review on his game TOR, it would be kindly appreciated.
People rate games too fucking high. If I see a game that gets 8 or 9/10 I want to download it and be impressed in some way. Unfortunately the majority of reviews here seem to be bullshit in another way. I don't know if it's just friends of the creators rating high, or people with no clue who are easily impressed, but it basically renders reviews here useless. The reason I don't do reviews often is because I'd very, very rarely give over six, and someone would be bound to take offense.
There's plenty of games that do, of course, deserve very high marks, but I just wish people could be more objective generally.
It's a crappy review. True that I'd not have rated it much higher, but it does seem to be especially nasty about stupid things, considering that there's other things genuinely wrong with the game.
Neither Jay nor Rhys can take criticism. They deserve one another.
Tigerworks> Ryh's review was deleted, why you coundn't find it.
BradonC> As you can see Wong is deleting the worst reviews. (If asked to check them, then it is in his right to delete or keep them) So if all was checked then they wouldn't have to go back to delete them.
Actually I was the one who deleted RhysD's review of TOR - not Wong. Obviously the review was up in retaliation against Jays review of Milber 2 (and quite frankly I couldn't find anything wrong with that review). And although Rhys review did contain some constructive critisism, it was quite clear to me that he posted it in retaliation. Hell, he even frickin mentioned it in the first line.
It's pathetic, to be honest, that we might have to consider introducing a "check review page before submission" - because the whole point of TDC is to act together as a community and offer constructive opinions. And you need to learn to deal with any negative comments, Rhys. Jay has never slagged off the game. He hasn't said any part of it is crap and not given a reason. I've studied your actions over the years and I've noticed that this is probably your weakest point - not accepting critisism. Your game has tonnes of 8/10's and 9/10's - why can't you be happy with them?
I'm not solely ganging up on Rhys either, because you have to take the rough with the smooth, and I personally think that Jay can't take critisism too well either. Also possibly a touch of arrogance in there as well
Both of you need to stop sniping at each other, and quit bitching. Save the arguments you have to private DC mail and stop dragging everyone else into it.
TDC is a great place to post to get loads of criticisms to improve your games. You just have to ignore the people who aren't criticising you in a useful way.
I havent read RhysD's review on TOR for the obvious reason, but i did read Jay's review of Milber. I must admit i didnt like Milber or TOR at all, i thought they both were quite average and i wouldnt rate over a "5", and both being graphically nice yet failed completely in the gameplay area, there was no "Fun factor". I do think Jay's review was really short, not much content but not bad enough to get deleted although i havent seen RhyD's review so i cant judge whether that was bad enough to be deleted or not.
"I think what Rhys meant is Jay is a faggety hypocrite not worth the organic material he's printed on"
Thats still no reason not to like a review. Besides that, Jay is nice to most people, Rhys can only say nice things about himself (or at least I don't remember him saying anything nice about somebody/something else).
Sure, the game sucked, I admit it, but it doesn't exactly say why in the review. When I give a bad review, I try to explain how it can be made better. But Mill Kenny didn't say why. He just repeated some quote from a Star Wars add or something.
Fine Garbage since 2003.

P.S. Newklear Productions should virtually die.

I have to completely agree with Radix's point about people rating too high. I find myself guilty of that often. Then again, there's also the problem that nobody rates the Overall score a ten, because "no game is perfect." I always find this annoying because it's similar to having something and never using it.
