The day of reckoning is apon me. I have reached a point in my application where there is so much shit going on, I am assaulted by dreaded SLOWDOWN! >_<

I found this extension for making bullets and particles, and it says that it can create up to 1000 of a particle without taking up normal CNC memory... However i tried just putting in the object and not doing anything else, and when I run the app like this, the slowdown is MUCH WORSE!

I dont see how it can be an effective memory saver if i cant even put the object in without doubling my slowdown...

Also, my app dosent side scroll, and i turned off Machine Independent speed (if i turn it on, the app freezes)

Anybody have any thoughts?

I have submitted the unfinished app, and ill link to it when its up.

Things that help my apps are:
V-RAM
Number of colours
and of course number of objects.

Put a counter somewhere and always set it to "Total Objects", tell me average number of the counter. By the way, you have an old avatar of mine without the bg.

An object can take up almost no memory but still slow your game down if you're drawing too many of it at once.

Try turning on VRAM like Andy says but only if you're not using transparency, otherwise it'll be even worse

It starts slowing down at around 120-145 objects

you could make sure that no new objects are created if there are over 90 to 110 objects on screen.
is your pc a relatively low spec machine? mine didnt slow down at all.

I didn't even get any slowdown either.
Experiement with different runtime properties and see how that helps.

Upon testing this with 2 of my friends, as well as your responses, I have come to the conclusion that my PC has the processing power of a mud brick. I guess I'll continue working on it disregaurding how it works on my shitbox.

As long as the link to it is up, anybody have any comments about it?

Thanks for all your help.

I think it is an impressive piece of work. It would work good as a screensaver.
Which version of MMF/TGF are you using by the way?

Making it a screensaver is what I intend to do.

I'm using MMX 1.06 32bit

Me want 1.5.... *drool*

MMF1.5 would probably sort some problems out.
