A game which is fun. And if it looks nice, I'll be more likely to play it.

either; nice looks, very good music, deep and involving storyline, controlability and gameplay from the gods themselves. unlockables help.

or! total insane addictiveness, not bothered about anything else.

Good graphics are a must for me, which is kinda unfortunate because alot of games have potential but are ruined because of low graphic quality.

Creativity, I dont care for storyline but the gameplay cannot copy another game's main focus in playability, In my opinion.

And gameplay smoothness/idea if they are both quite good, it can help a game alot.
As well as very few bugs in a game.

These are all in my opinion.

The game must have some kind of achievments to be made. If it's just a bunch of platforming levels that all look the same and there's no story or anything to compel me to finish it, I won't progress further than a few levels before getting sick of it. However, if there's something to explore or discover, or just plenty of different things to do, I'll keep coming back.
I don't care how difficult a game is, so long as it doesn't have any boring bits. I don't want to sit through a thirty-second cutscene every time I die if I'm going to die five seconds into the level on my first ten attempts.
I don't think graphics matter at all. TSE had sweet graphics, but it's the most boring game I've ever played, ever.

Personally, I just need a game with solid gameplay. Graphics help, but graphics are really there only to compliment or add to the gameplay. What I would really love to see is a greater number of games people really care about and put alot of effort into. When alot of time is put into a game it shows. Replay value is also a big thing. Especially if your making a simple game. No one likes to download a game and lose interest in it after a few minutes. Just a thought.

The game needs to absorb the player and take them to a whole new world of imaginary fun and adventure.

The ability to go fucking nuts and kill a bunch of innocent people is always good, too.

I think the most important thing is solid gameplay, something simple and very addicting. Also having all original graphics and music helps a lot also. Storyline, to me is the most overrated feature, storyline should be simple and clean. I don't want any "bitch levels", levels that are very annoying to get past in the middle or end of the level. A slope of difficulty i think is a nice thing to have, go from very easy/easy to hard/very hard so the difficulty gets harder as you get better. Also have a character or logo thats very reconizable, makes people remember the game a lot more. Unlockable add a lot more fun factor and playablity/replayablity. Adding something new that has rarely or never seen before also adds a lot more unique points.

for me, all you need is to have fun with the game,
good gameplay is most important in a game

thats why gameboys were so popular
tetris doesnt have good graphics or good level design but good gameplay.

Games that emphasize fun over trying to have a fancy engine (and still manage to be playable). All too often I see games that have an engine so advanced that it resulted in the level design recieving no attention (likewise, I see very well designed games that recieve poor reviews just because they don't impliment super high-tech mega ultra uber 3D graphics). Good gameplay with no creativity is worthless, in my opinion. Not that gameplay is unimportant, I just think that a game whose most noticible feature is the engine and not the design is a pretty shallow game.

plenty of action (but not monotonous, mind), innovation aplenty (GTA's open-endedness, far cry's CryEngine or HL2's facial technology) and decent AI will get me playing.
