Basically the use of an Installer is hamperd when a Newbie such as the schmuck that posted this thread badmouths the exe format of the Installer and stands down the uses of the installer system
where as the zip file may be more convinient for speed removal of 90% of the bullshit submited to this site every hour when using an installer for a Click Product its not about how many FILES there are, installers are used for more things than that admitedly it is helped if there are more than 2 files they perform things such as registry checks placing required DLL files in the various locations around the machines hard drive and give easy acess to the user for what would normally be a shitload of folder searching and finding the right EXE and to make sure they dont click on the EXE that fucks over there machine, If any scmuck newbie reads the thread look at trevors ranting and read this

IF YOU WANT AN INSTALLER TYPE PIECE OF BOLLOX, USE WIN RAR EXECUTABLE EXTRACTOR looks professional buts its just a Zip in an EXE flipping brilliant for you schmucks with no clue on using an Installer, but I do rember the time, when I used installers... Wait a minute my games contained inportant files, instead of a stick fingure with no abs! GREAT!

why not use 7zip SFX archives? They're even better than a WinRAR SFX.

Most of this is irrelevant as anyone who makes games worthy of installing will ignore this topic.

I think the default Games Factory installers are horrible. If used correctly though, Install Creator (by Clickteam), in the right hands, can achieve cool and presentable results without leaving stuff cluttered in hidden spots on the hard drive. Everything needs to be kept in one folder, thats all.

maybe we should ask clickteam to make files mentioned in MMF2 with no pathname automatically go to Appdrive$+Appdir$ instead of the windows folder.

i probably should have read through every post in this topic but heres my 2 cents

the only thing that destroyed installers were n00bs who wanted to look all grown up. installers are brilliant for anyone who gets downloads from people outside the click community, people who cant extract folders for some reason or another. my hostings inbox is full of emails from people who complain about "DMC2 error" and the likes all because they cant use computers properly so they have system files hidden. installers extract everything to where they need to be. bloody handy if i do say so myself. and saves me time sending out emails.

good day

I don't mind Install Creator. I don't see what the huge fuss is all about. It won't kill you to use an installer, would it?

Reply in English:
Happigamer- I really want you to stop speaking 'happigamer'. It's okay when you have one or two spelling errors, but this is insane. No one will take you seriously.

Rply in happigamer;

/me owns stocks in 7-zip, Gaim, Firefox, and just about every other opensource projec

hmm...have you ever noticed how opensource projects tend to be better than the closed source equivalent?

well, 7-zip tends to be better than zip, Gaim tends to be better than Trillian, Firefox tends to be better than IE...notice a pattern here?
