Looks sweeet! The colours and shading are also nicely done. When you say 'doodle' do you mean it was hand drawn and scanned or done in some sort of program? Either way, it looks nice.
The only thing that bothers me is its uncanny resemblance to a character from abes exodus/odyssey: the squid-like beasts that control abe and his people. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a reference pic...
...does anyone know what I'm talking about?
'oh yeah? he's thrown a kettle over a pub, what have you done?'
Istvan: Yeah, I was mucking around with some new pens while watching somthing crappy on late-night tv. Scrubs, I think. Then I scanned it and coloured it in PSP because I was in the right mood.
The reason it looks like a Slig is because it began as a robot squid, then I thought it'd look good with a body.
Yeah, 'sligs', thats what theyre called. Thanks for the reference pic Klikmaster.
I can definately see the similarity, but thats ok, because art is all about taking other ideas and adding something new.
I wasnt sure whether you had rendered the image in some sort of program, Im not really used to those sort of programs. Only asked cos it looked really clean, but Ive only ever used MS Paint, and more recently dappled in Graphics Gale for certain tasks. Also, Ive only recently gotten myself a scanner, so Im interested when I here wind of other scanning artists.

It'd be a lot cleaner if I had something to convert lineart to vector format. I used to have a pretty good one called Traceline, but I don't know what's happened to it. Instead I've been experimenting with ways of cleaning really quickly just with a couple of filters (for this one I evened all the whites with the Curves tool, made all the #ffffff parts transparent and turned the brightness down on the lines layer to make what was left much darker).
I'm pretty sure the Slig similarity is just coincidence. I mean the last time I watched someone play an Abe game would've not long after the first one came out on ps1.
