Have you tried groups? Make it inside of the group, if the player presses a button, release the ball, & close the group, then when you die, reopen the group so it happens again.
I agree with Radix, dont post, crap to the website like every other Schmuck, newbie... look at examples, learn come up with a good idear... and submit that...

You have to pass a written exam to be able to agree with me. Otherwise, if stupid fuckwits all over the place start agreeing with me, it devalues my opinion.
If you're using KNP it may make things a bit difficult. Here's the best I can come up with:
When the ball drops off the bottom of the screen, stop its movement.
While the ball is stopped, set its X position to (position of paddle), and set its Y position to Y position to (position of paddle) - 16.
When user presses left mouse button + Ball is stopped, start ball movement and set its direction to either up-left or up-right.
I'm not sure how much of that KNP can cope with, but it should give you something to start with.
yess radix i agrre go nad work ona bettar tyep of gaem first and if yuo do tehn dont submti it here pls thx
Seriously though, you should read a few tutorials instead of diving in trying to make a game from scratch. If you did, you'd know how to use the Set Position action (useful here), Set Direction, and testing the position of the ball - which is all you need.
Try making many little things using global values, alterable values and flags.
Not a game, just little tutorial for yourself...
then learn extensions then break out of 8 direction movement and blah blah and make your own custom movements....THEN if you wanna make a breakout game do it. i suggest not though.
thinking is like pong, it's easy, but you miss sometimes.
If I knew he was using KnP I wouldnt have recommended groups, but even at that, rather then buying the all new PS2 game, get TGF Pro at the same exact price! Though MMF is better, anything's better then KnP.
oh yes... "Moron" thats Original isnt it, Im so offended by your lack of vocabulary... A more apropriate, and less lame remark would have been "Schmuck"

I'm on niether side of Total vs. Radix, but I will say that vocabulary has bugger all to do with anything. If someone's being a moron, that's what I'd call them. Trying to flaunt your intelligence by using bigger, superfluous words only makes you look like you need to get out more, and hardly gets the point across.
