rikus had the idea and it was coded by andi and clubsoft, i _think_. i don't know if shadowcaster had much to do with it, he was just a lowly admin like me
Chris D made one of the early versions of it. Shadowcaster and Andi didn't come in until much later
"Say you're hanging from a huge cliff at the top of mt. everest and a guy comes along and says he'll save you, and proceeds to throw religious pamphlets at you while simultaniously giving a sermon." - Dustin G
If I'm not mistaking, didnt Rikus give complete power to Shadowcaster a while ago because Rikus said he was leaving or something. Then he came back, not full force, but still. I dont remember all the details though, so dont quote me on this.
I still do all the coding and such, Rikus is around too, doing news and as you can see the Christmassyness, ShadowCaster is pretty busy at Uni from what I remember
1997: Ap-Zone was born
1998: Click Cafe was Born (ccafe had an automated system while the ap-zone was updated by hand)
1999: Ap-Zone died because of the cafe's popular automated system.
1999: First ever version of the dc pops up, not automated still uses static .html lets call it version: 0.1
2000: Click Cafe died because the server just dissapeared one day
2000: The first 0.1 dc died
2001: People still talk about the first dc and wonder where it went, rikus tells chrisd that if he can get the names of around 25 people he will think about bringing it back...couple of days later chris submits the list.
2001: Chris and rikus team up to create the first automated Daily Click, call it version 1.0. It had the now well known comments section where people could comment ons news. there was no forum
November 2001: Shadowcaster joined the admins
December 2001: The dc finally get its own url at www.create-games.com, it also gets a new update made by chris call it version 2.0, the dc looked a bit more like the current one, but had not many of the features it has today.
January 2002: After version 2.0 has been around for a bit the site became more popular and the current server could not handle the traffic.
Early 2002: Clubsoft comes into the picture, Clubsoft re-starts and re-codes the whole site from scratch creating a much more stable and faster site with many new features. Call it version 3.0 Version 3.0 was the yellow one
September: 2002: Clubsoft keeps improving on the site and the color changes to blue with more features.
2002: Click Cafe re-opens
2002: Click Cafe dies
November: 2002: Rikus leaves his admin duties to move to Canada and get married Shadowcaster has to find a new webhost since the old webhosting service is almost expired. Circy takes over the gotw duties. A bit later shadow finds a new webhost
2003: The all mighty clubsoft keeps improving the site
Summer 2003: Rikus comes back part-time
2004: ... Well that's where we are now
If i missed anything or mixed up times, let me know, i did this from memory and click timeline
