How many people here at TDC are annoyed by long signatures that take up half the page? I find it especially anoying since they're usually much longer than the post itself and since scrolling through a thread with a long signature is a hassle if you're using a slow computer.
Agreed, especially if people are posting very short messages. I'm suprised there isn't a character/line limit on sigs. If your signature extends the height of your post when posting a single line, it is too long. You still get a good five or six lines without breaking that rule.
Once apon a time, if your sig was over three lines or shorter than your message, you were a FUCKING WARLORDING BASTARD WHO OUGHT TO BE SHOT FOR WASTING VALUABLE BANDWIDTH. Nowadays it's just annoying. I am in support of a char limit.
its okay here because there is a line and some space between the post and signature.
But on some forums there is no way of telling where the post stops and signature begins. You must waste valuable time looking for the actual post. Ive sometimes ended up reading the sig a few times before realising its not the post.
Honestly almost all other sites ive been to are a lot worse than here.
But you might wanna see most people's sigs, just not the cock-ends who ruin it with massive ones.
I'm glad images in sigs were banned a while ago, they used to piss me off.
I am annoyed by long signatures, but some sites I visit have morons that have two-page-long signatures full of photos and 36-point text (and that's just the board administrator), so the problem pales in to insignificance here.
Bah, that's why I don't use signatures. Though the ones here aren't that bad. Amnesiasoft's is the longest, and even then, it doesn't go any longer than the big block saying his name and user rating.

every fucking time phizzy makes a post. I would rather not have sigs at all, quotes don't make you clever by association, and I have never read a sig that made me laugh.

Well if sigs are stupid, then avatars must be too. Having an avatar doesn't make you look any smarter, more attractive or funnier any more/less than sigs do, or anything else for that matter.
Sigs, like avatars, are just something for us to make our own, to distiguish from others in the forums, and mainly just for fun.

JP, my sig is just that. A sig. I don't see why you care what's in it or not - I just happened to make it a closing. No offense, man, but it's just kind of arbitrary to post that.
