I see moving avatars all the time, but how do you go about making them?
I hate witty signatures.

Well I used Webpainter www.totallyhip.com/ you can get a free trial for 15 days (but it never expires!)
Haha ok I hope that helps.
Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?
Anne-Marie: No, they have to share one.

I spared no expense and downloaded Adobe ImageReady, which is actually pretty pants for making avatars, but at least it integrates with Photoshop. The actual animation though was rendered as an AVI in 3D Studio MAX and converted to GIF in Imageready. Edited by the Author.

GraphicsGale comes in a langauge I don't understand - is there any way to change the menus and stuff to English or not? It should be self explanatory, but I might be missing out on a 'make my sprite for me' option.

I'd animate my avatar, but you know, there is little I can do to animate it without changing it completely & I dont want to do that. Though you can find all kinds of different animating programs out there, like Phizzy said, just animate it in MMF & export it.
