Hello. First off, let me introduce myself. I'm Yoshi Star (YS), and I sure am glad I made a username here. I've had some experience with MMF and TGF, but still not too good at it. Currently, I'm working on a game for vitalize! And, I really need help.

I need some sort of isometric engine ... It would be great if someone here could give me one. That's basically all I need. I really hope Daily-click is as good as I've been told for quick replies.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome YS, I like the name.

Slow down though please, big words! lol

Isometric
adj.

1. Of or exhibiting equality in dimensions or measurements.
2. Of or being a crystal system of three equal axes lying at right angles to each other.
3. Physiology. Of or involving muscular contraction against resistance in which the length of the muscle remains the same.

n.

A line connecting isometric points.

Dictionary

Do you need something that will give you the same length between objects?

What I meant by Isometric was Isometric Games and such.

Have you played any? Games like ...erm...Got it! Sonic 3D Blast. It's not really 3D. It's isometric. You know that certain diagonal view point. Hard to explain...

Ah! I know what you mean.

Yeah, I don't know of any. Why couldn't you make your own?

Oh...It looks okay...But it's not the right angle of view I wanted, the normal kind. I'll see what I can do with this. But this doesn't mean this thread is finished just yet. It may not be good at all... Thanks for the help Beeb!

Not many people seem to realise that isometric movement can't be done with normal diagonal directions, which is why all those "isometric" engine tutorials you see on here are from the wrong angle. It's easy to do, however.

When changing your co-ordinates, the diagonal movements should go 2 pixels across, 1 pixel up/down, so you get the right angle. also up and down movmeent should be slower than sideways movement, again, up and down is 1 pixel, sideways is two.

It can be done with the movement object if you know which angles to move the character.

Question - How do you intend for the game to actually be, fast acceleratable movement like Sonic 3D or what?

Well, it's not actually an adventure or anything. It's just my Vitalize 3D Pong Game. The object is to hit the ball towards the wall, and it will bounce back, you get one point when it hits the wall. It gets faster and faster soon...

Anyway, the answer to your question ... I want it so that it moves in blocks. I think I can do it myself now. Thanks for all the help!

Finally, an educated, friendly newbie.

A little while back I asked for an isometric engine, but it doesn't appear as if there's one on the site (or anywhere.) I'm sure it can be accomplished, though.

Welcome indeed.

As the others already posted, it is not likely you will find anything premade here. Always remember there is the search option on your left side below your name and rating "Search DC ->".

This is a feature rarely used I guess. I have used it with good results in the past.
