Jannis:
Yeah, I was concerned about that, especially not being able to use human mythology and the way the Wraith guys are pretty generic baddies (people eaters from space!), but it's only been the first two episodes yet. I'll watch it anyway, even if it's not nearly as good as SG1 it's still stargate and it's still sci fi.
Dines: all the fun of Dr. Who is in how cheesy it is. All the serials have always used monsters from other series, and if you stopped using original Who monsters (or worse, update them like turning Daleks into Terminators) you'd alienate the entire fan base.
Daleks are in the new series and they have jets now. all the vintage Who watchers used to rattle on about how scary the Daleks were, but i just thought they were a bit pathetic. but when i saw the trailer with them in and the line "you are an ememy of the Daleks..." with a Dalek chained up in some room... i got a little scared.
Daleks could hover in the series. You see them climb some stairs in one episode.
I've heard rumours that there's going to be a very awesome kind of dalek that were featured in the comics. I don't want to spoil anything, but they're neat.
Daleks are part biological, by the way. Originally they were all mutants but later on they started cutting off human heads and building dalek armour around them.
