Hi guys.. just started getting into MMF and having great fun with it.

I'm having some problems with disabling a particular direction (either U,D,L,R) if a particular object is being overlapped.

I can't use collision to stop the motion as certain rules deem the object to move in that direction occasionally.

so, the full question is , how do I disable one direction (say, up) of the player when an certain object meets an overlap condition?

apologies for the dumb (and maybe unclear) question, hopefully this forum is beginner friendly willing to help

thanks!

Well from the sounds of it, your using Basic movement, which isnt recommended for pretty much anything game wise. I havent really tried doing that via basic moment, but I have an artical on how to do Custom Movement, which once you get used to it, will make what your trying to do ALOT easyer.

Heres the link to the artical, it tells you how you can create an 8 direction engine in custom movement. Its relitivly easy to fallow in my oppinion, & should help you out with what you want to do.

Thanks! - I'm aware that custom movement is the true way forward, so I guess I'll lock myself a way with MMF and bite the bullet tonight.. thanks for your help

you rock!! thanks dude.

I just played about with your custom movement suggestions during my lunchbreak, I shall probably make it run according to my specs outside of my present game, that way it should be easy for me to 'plug in' once it works the way I need it to.

I'll send you private message regarding IM's
