Hey guys! Sorry for not being on lately (again), I'm just not a very good forum monkey :\ . Anyways, I need some rough criticism on some midis for a game that my friend and I are making. They were fun to make, I just hope they're good (its like happy Castlevania 4 music!) Enjoy!

Plz note: Quicktime will mess up a lot of midis bcuz it has its own synthesizer. You can change it to GS and do yourself and the world a favor

Also note: Like many people who write, I will sometimes write stuff I've heard before (and its really funny, too) if this is the case, PLZ FOR CRYING OUT LOUD LET ME KNOW.

Here ya go:

What it needs is more instruments- what I can supply is 8 bcuz my MIDI program stinks. What does it need to make it stronger?

The boss theme needs harder beats i would say and some bass. Scary or hard rock something like that.

They all sound very similar - and there's not much difference in mood between them all. Even the boss theme sounds happy. There's some good midi-craft in some though, especially in cloudstheme2.

Yeah i agree with noodle
If thats what the boss music is like then the entire game (even when fighting bosses) must be a very cherry game indeed.. i even the the creepy music one sounds kinda happy in some ways. It can be quite hard to make differing styles of music that are still coherent as a whole for the same game, especially since we are all afected by our own personal style. Anyways, good work and i'd be nice to see some work on making some of them a bit more intence/uncomfortable/scarey.. maybe on the boss one you could add tension with eratic notes added and some sudden volume changes on certain strategicly picked notes and some extra layers of bass, and to make the scarey one scareyer take out some notes to make it a little slower with more strings or something..(i think its just the quik fast notes at regular distances that make it all so happy)

Ok, thx guys. I know they sound similar, i was going for an energetic feel and kinda got carried away i guess. I'm using a crap midi program and it can't change volume (which is crap (probably bcuz its a trial)), which would be quite useful (I keep trying to add bass but i cant hear it!). Please recomend me a good program!

I'll work on them and see what I can do. I already tried working on the boss music, and i can't get it to work better without completely changing it, so I think I'm going to make a new one from scratch.

Just so you guys know, the game is intended to be an odd mix of adventure and action.

FYI, anything with a '2' at the end of it is a continuation of the first one that loops until the area is complete.
