Truth is a Christian Arcade\Role-Playing Game that has a deep story. Here is an overview of the story:
It is current day. A S.W.A.T squad is sent to what appears to be a distress call from a resident in the rural areas of Nevada (which is, rural). Our character, James Ascroft (I've already used this name before as the star of the Fog 1&2, oh well, nobody can get enough action these days) Apparently, he has suffered a loss (which will not be revealed yet) and has split off from his faith (which is Christian, of course) The distress call is real; an extraterrestrial is at the scene, and is trying to make contact. But when Ascroft thinks God really has no purpose, he is wrong. The 'aliens' are not what there appear to be, and their message is 'there are no gods, you are gods.' And then what appeared to be the saving of humanity is the damnnation of it, really (pun intended, the word was used Biblically) The aliens are demons, and when the government, and all other citizens dissuade him, he is only left with his trusty squad God gives him power to destroy these demons, in which, our charater finally realizes that Jesus is real, and God, is the only way.
Sound Good.
Does it have to be a christian game? I'm Catholic buit I don't think religion translates well into gaming. I don't mind religious themes, but a 'message' just seems tacky.
Ok, so people are entitled to believe what they want to , I can accept that. What I can't accept is putting "messages" into game conveying Christian messages, or any message from any religion for that matter, it just seems to be luring people into your beliefs using a game. lol it's quite typical of modern Christianity actually, if the pupils of the school are invited to a christian meeting, you get some serious people, and then you get the other 250 who only came because there was free food. I'm just saying ... find an environment where your messages are welcomed by everyone in it( try smegsoft lol )
Man, im happy there's at least one christian other than me in the game-making business, i bet this topic will probably be locked because people will start like a forum-riot or something, but i really really like this idea, and feel sorry for people that dont. Its a useful, clever idea, even if it is trying to get people to be christian, i just wish more people would involve themselves in it(this isnt a "who's christian, and who's not" thing, its a question gamerdudetom made about needing a graphics artist, someone support him. It's actually a really clever idea, thumbs up on storyline, and im surprised that all game-makers have to be regularly-drunk, cuss alot, and have no beliefs, why not actually think life has a point? But whatever, this is too much for me, good luck on your game, and good luck finding someone to help you in this kind of "loving" community.

So are you saying that am I going to be persecuted for this? And yes, believe whatever you want to believe. All I am asking for is help to make a great game (that is likely to be released on the market, so watch out) and you expect me to find an enviroment where my messages are welcomed? Isn't this "The Daily Click," where people who NEED HELP go to get help? As for the 250 who went for free food, well, they still heard the message.
Romans 5:8

Oh dear. Whats with all the dramatic photoshop images that take around 5 minutes to make? How do they relate to your game? Im interested to know.
That wasn't photoshop actually. And is that a compliment? If it is, thanks. How do they relate? Looks intense, huh? I don't expect this game to be "kiddie" in any way. You want a deep, dark, Christian game (within boundries of the faith) you have one. I don't want a kiddie game, and I'm sure neither do you. So I'm down with that.

That depends on how to look at it. I think the message fits well into there. And don't worry, I'm not going to get mad at you for being a Catholic (although your signature has some, say, colorful words?)
Quote:
i won't touch this with a 10ft. cross.
Well don't then. I don't really care. You aren't making me angry or sad. It's you and God, not me.
Quote:
jesus hates double posts.
I prefer it Jesus, and what does that mean exactly? You make no sense whatsoever.
Quote:
seriously man ... no. and what exactly are you trying to do with this idea of yours? are you trying to convert people over to christianity?
Yes.
Quote:
@JP- The Romans already did that for you
No sense again whatsoever. I'm 13, just to let you know.
Quote:
But I think this sounds good...Sure, it sounds all 'Jesus is Lordish' but it still sounds fun.
I'm an Orthodox- my religion is older then yours, Teapot! Let's start a Holy War!!!
Jesus is the Lord. And it will be fun, or else I myself will not release it.

Thanks for that. Why do you have to cuss, have blood, in a game. Is there any point (blood, in some way, especially FPSes, I could understand. But not the extent of overdoing it (Doom 3) This community seemed nice. Hopefully it is.

This is no debate. I am:

Dear God, this game sounds so awful it would almost be fun! O_o
Sashman: Please explain to me exactly why this game would be 'useful'.
Well, I'm glad your happy. This game is useful for spreading the word of Jesus Christ's everlasting salvation. Well, then, does that answer your question?
I suppose most of you know very little about the Bible, and I'm afraid, will raise up points or rants that have already been answered, been explained. Go ahead. Ask till you die. But use common sense. Please. I am not afraid of what you have to say, or will say.
I think you need to spend a little more time on the internet to get forum jokes gamerdudetom.
A double post is when you accidentally post the same thing twice. You can tell this was the case because:
A. I wrote "jesus hates double posts"
B. There is an edit symbol on the second one.
C. The second one is right after the first one.
Lazarus was playing off my first joke. As we all know the Romans nailed Jesus to the cross for claiming to be the son of god.
I find it... arrogant that you are calling the game "Truth", I feel that it's a word that should be reserved for solid fact, not opinions, interpretations, beliefs, or faith.
Anyway if it looks like a good game I will play it regardless of the religious intent.

YES I WANT A KIDDIE GAME! im more likely to download a kiddie game than an emily bishop game!
You still havent given reason or related the images to your game?
Quote: I find it... arrogant that you are calling the game "Truth", I feel that it's a word that should be reserved for solid fact, not opinions, interpretations, beliefs, or faith.
Do you believe that mankind is good, or that we are not evil to begin with? Do you believe that we can have order, prosperity, control? That there is at least some higher force, or phenomenon? That we ourselves have no reason to really exist at all? There is no purpose to life?
In some ways, we all want to know the truth. It's possible that sometime in your life you questioned your existence, the really meaning, the truth of why you are here. Some people are still searching for the truth, even when the real facts, the truth, is there in front of them.
29Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude followed Him. 30And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!"
31Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!"
32So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, "What do you want Me to do for you?"
33They said to Him, "Lord, that our eyes may be opened." 34So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.
The images on the website are related, Sonhos. However, the reason for them will not be revealed until the game comes out.
Quote: Okay, that is in no way useful, it's just trying to force wrong beliefs on people who don't want to hear it. I now refuse to play your stupid f****** Jesus game. And I seriously doubt you could get this published on't mainstream.
*Laughs* Okay, I thought that was what your initial reaction would be. Who says I'm 'trying to force wrong beliefs on people who don't want to hear it'? First, I am not 'forcing', second, who says my beliefs are wrong? And what if I get this published on mainstream? Miracles do happen (pun intended). Switchfoot got onto MTV. They were Christian.
And I also see no help from any of you either. I can manage.
Truth
1. Conformity to fact or actuality.
2. A statement proven to be or accepted as true.
3. Sincerity; integrity.
4. Fidelity to an original or standard.
5.
1. Reality; actuality.
2. often Truth That which is considered to be the supreme reality and to have the ultimate meaning and value of existence.
So you have the definition right in front of you and still don't get it? I answer yes to your first two questions, but we don't need religion to achieve this. It is an even greater test of humanity to do good without an imaginary father figure threatening to spank us. I lead a more pious life than 90% of the sunday christians in the world, and I do this without needing direction. Religion is not solid fact, it's faith based, it's a belief system, the word truth should not be applicable unless you write "my truth", "christian truth". I don't believe in a higher power, and I don't need to for me to follow my moral code. You're quoting a highly inaccurate book that has been re-written countless times, many of the messages are good but it cannot be taken literally. When the bible was re-written they exaggerated him, and took away the stories of his life as a mortal man. It is impossible for blind people to see again simply by touching them.
Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?
Alright, putting religious messages into games? Your starting to sound like the Jehovas Witnesses and all going door to door selling their religion. I dont mind if your Christian, I worship the devil myself. Down with Jesus!!!
"Actually sir, we found a tiny unicorn in your exhaust. It was jumping around poking holes in your gas tank." "Oh thank you I did not know that. A tiny unicorn? Wow."
Actually I dont worship the devil, it turned out to be just gas. Sorry about that.
"Actually sir, we found a tiny unicorn in your exhaust. It was jumping around poking holes in your gas tank." "Oh thank you I did not know that. A tiny unicorn? Wow."

Let's get this straight: I'm not trying to start a fight here. Forums, because you can't see the facial expressions of someone when they are writing, creates a ready atmosphere for conflict (Phizzy,Digital Dreams) I can't really communicate without maturity, which some of you lack completely, although most of you (including JP) have maturity. So I consider this a simple debate, not a conflict.
Quote: Stop saying 'pun intended', it's not funny.
I put 'pun intended' so you could understand. Isn't that a common saying? I won't quote you anymore, now that you've dissapeared into lala land.
Quote: Please dont quote the bible.YOU MEAN I HAVE TO WAIT! oh im gutted.
Okay, here's the NSF logo is; the aliens in the game are trying to reinforce a UN type government, and that is the logo.
Aside from that, if you have a bible, you will see some comparisons to Revelations and what this story is aimed about.
Okay, now I'm guessing JP is a evolutionist, so I'll look at that.
Now evolution, according to scientists, is 'scientific fact.' Here is the definition:
Quote: any observation that has been repeatedly confirmed and accepted as true; any scientific observation that has not been refuted
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=scientific+fact, if you want to be specific.
Evolution cannot be repeated. Therefore, it is not scientific fact.
I will go that far for now.
I don't have the time to talk right now, so I will share my comments later.
I am a Jesus Freak. If that's what I'm called, I rightly bear it.
Repeatedly confirmed doesn't mean that is has to have been recreated/repeated. It is the consensus of the entire scientific community since Darwin’s trip to the Galapagos that natural selection is how we have arrived at our present state of being. Evolution is a lengthy process and we are repeating it as we speak. Consider the amish in Pennsylvania. It is very hard to get new converts so they have been intermarrying for hundreds of years, now their children are suffering from recessive genes and are dying off. God can't save his devout from evolution.
Oh yeah and I'm totally fine with you being christian, I'm just athiest.

wait, i think i remember you from somewhere gamerdudtom, can't exactly pin point which forum, but if i remember correctly, you were a forum rager, you started flame wars, using religion, racism, nationalism, etc
well, HAH! it won't work here people here aren't as religious online as you'd think, the only one getting flamed here is you!!! hahaha
Gamerdudtom...I apreciate that your not afraid to stand up for your beliefs but, on a forum such as this is not the correct way to influence people for Christ. I am a Christian and I believe you should witness and all but, as I said this is not the correct location. You will just make people hate you if you aproach things this way. As others have said...I really don't think a game is going to save someone.
Peace yall.
I'm feeling a bit wella

NO NO NO. I've been on this site for nearly 3 years (dons "cool" badge) and it's with saddenning regularity that these Christian/religious debate posts pop up. There's been a lull recently but I never expected it to last.
Look, the arguments are boring, we've seen both sides a thousand times, and no-one's going to change anyone else's mind. We're not against fresh debates or freedom of expression here, but this argument is as stale as it is useless. Gamerdudetom, don't take this as a decision against your ideas for a game, and people who are interested in helping Tom should PM him. However the last thing we as admins want or need is a heated debate about religion which just ruffles feathers and turns into a mud slinging match. Therefore...
Topic locked. Any attempts to incite this debate on other posts (e.g. bible quotes, snide comments about religious beliefs or lack thereof) will be deleted. Please please please, we do not need another religion argument. Thank you.
