Kingdom of Loathing is the most awesome MMORPG ever! I'm a lv15 pastamancer on it and still need to ascend and defeat the naughty sorceress. Papaya war anybody?
I got bored after black sunday made my hard-earned meat worth nothing, but I signed up again the day ascension was implemented. I think I'm a lv 8 hardcore accodion thief at the moment.
Phizzy, black sunday was the day someone figured out how to duplicate a valuable consumable item, and there were thousands of them on the market for around 25 meat each (they're normally worth over ten thousand meat). It caused massive inflation and while some people got really rich, it made previously wealthy players relatively poor.
I made 100k profit off a levitating sombrero on the first day it came out. I think people thought the South of the Border dungeon ws only open on Halloween.
If you're the first one to sell an item it can go for a lot. 100k isn't much, if someone was collecting familiars and doing something else it'd be worth it for the saved adventures if nothing else. When MicroMechs first turned up I bought mine for 200k, just so I could ascend with it without waiting for the price to go down.
