I need to make a quick platform game and it would be great if I could rip grafix of another game How do you do that? Is it possible to 'borrow' animations also?

After seeing that people almost always complain about ripped graphics, you want to know how to do it??

I didn't see anything in his question that said "should I".

dov: get a screen capturing program like "SnagIt", play the game you want the graphics from while it records, output to gif, import to MMF or TGF, then you have to erase everything around the part that you need.

Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?

Anne-Marie: No, they have to share one.

For emulated games, you can in some emus turn off the different layers. Saves a lot of work removing the background.

How to rip graphics in four easy steps:

1)Use either snagit or print preview
2)Compile your game
3)Post it on the DC
4)Hide in the corner as the Daily Click Members come to your house and disembowel you, then lift you up and hang you by your own intestines.

Sorry, but that's the truth. No one likes ripped graphics. I suggest you make your own.

Or you can press back and then forward to have it change colors too (for those without a F5).

I did make a sprite ripper for TGF games but I never published it. It was more of a test of my coding skills than anything else.

Ripping graphics from a click game without permission is an absolute no-no. Don't do it. Ever.

Ripped graphics from commercial games (eg: Nintendo) are generally accepted if the game is a fangame (eg: Zelda graphics in a Zelda game, Mario graphics in a Mario game, etc), but in few other occasions.

Until recently I tended to use premade explosion sprites but now I tend to either do particle effects or design my own.

Ripping is bad. If the worst comes to the worst, just ask clickers if they can send you their old abandonware games. You should be able to use their graphics if they let you.

This method is more noble and will get you far more respect than someone who just steals other people's work. It also means the sprites won't be well-known (if the games were abandoned then most of the sprites will be entirely new to most viewers).
